At the annual Oscar nominees luncheon on Monday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the A-list men flaunted a trend – casual suits. The nominee luncheon is a less formal, more fun-spirited event and it showed, as many in attendance decided to go without a tie.
Hugh Jackman: The Best Actor nominee for ‘Les Miserables’ donned a well-tailored black Lanvin suit. His jacket was snug around the waist, as it should be, and his pants had little break, if any. Hugh’s jacket featured notch lapels but no pocket square, which would have added a little more kick to his perfectly-fitted outfit. Hugh previously wore similar grey Lanvin suits to both the ‘Les Miserables’ London premiere and the AFI Awards.
Ben Affleck: He and his film ‘Argo’ have not only gained praise from numerous critics, but they have also received several awards. Ben looked like a serious contender, wearing a grey Dolce & Gabbana suit with a peak-lapel jacket. His pants, which seemed a bit long, actually worked well considering the casual atmosphere. His unbuttoned white shirt and black silk pocket square accented nicely with his black shoes. Ben also wore Dolce & Gabbana to the 28th Santa Barbara International Film Festival this past Friday.
Bradley Cooper: Fellow Best Actor nominee, Bradley Cooper – for ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ – wore a sleek grey Gucci suit with dark-brown oxford shoes. The actor followed suit with no tie, but refined his look with a slicked-back hairdo. Bradley was seen in November wearing a slim-fit light-grey plaid Gucci suit to the Los Angeles premiere of Silver Linings Playbook.
Hugh, Ben and Bradley will be seen again, most likely wearing ties, at the 85th Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California on February 24.
