The Duchess of Cambridge went for understated florals on an official visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens earlier today.
For the first day of the Duke and Duchess’ nine-day Asian tour, she opted for a bespoke Jenny Packham silk twill De Gournay dress featuring hand-painted orchids.
Although this might not be my favourite look on the Duchess, I understand why she chose it. Singapore is famous for its orchids and Kate was at the gardens to see an exotic flower dedicated to Princes Diana.
The kimono-inspired bodice is also a nod to the Duke and Duchesses Jubilee tour plans.
Kate finished her look with pearl earring and nude L.K. Bennett pumps.

i have to say i adore the entire look even with the boring shoe choice.
I think she looks great except for the pumps. She is so uninspiring concerning the shoe department.
+1
i wish she would stop wearing such dark eye makeup
agree completely!
better
I think she gained some weight. She looks really nice in this dress, but the shoes are awful as always. I like her hair and the earrings.
I am so impressed that she wore that in Singapore and didn’t melt.
My thoughts exactly! Then I realized she didn’t have to take public transport and I’m pretty sure wherever she went, it would have been heavily airconditioned…Lol!
On a style note, she looks stunning! The hand-painted orchids on her dress may have been a bit too obvious (as a nod to the host, I much prefer her subtle Prabal orchid-like print) but then again she looks lovely.
What a gorgeous dress! What horrible shoes! Look, Catherine, even the red Choo shoes from the right side are a beter choice!
this is such a good royal choice! i feel like when she’s 50 she can wear this and it would still look good!
now my problem is, she’s styling the look like a 50 year old would!
Beautiful dress, boring shoes.
She looks very pretty and I can forgive the boring shoes.
Too old for her.
What a lovely look! But I agree with BeatofA about the make up, I wish she’d switch things up every once in a while. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her wearing red lipstick…
I’m torn. I do love the dress on her, and yet, I think it’s aging.
snoozeville
Flawless!
Why the shoulder pads?! The dress is very nice and I like the print, but the shoulder pads make this look like it came straight from Jenny Packhams archives, circa 1984. And enough already, Kate! I get that you are supposed to be frugal and “real”, but I dont think people would mind if you invested in a different pair of shoes and a new hairstyle.
This dress is all wrong for several reasons. First off the style is very Old Lady. Secondly, the orchid print is ……. tacky. It looks like female anatomy.
I would think in that climate, the royals would be exempted from the pantyhole/tight requirement. Would rather see a bare leg and an open toe shoe.
+1 this look is very aging. The shoes are killing me
This dress is beautiful–love the floral print. I think she looks great here (as usual) and I don’t mind the shoes, as she probably needs something comfortable!
