Dakota Fanning In Louis Vuitton – 2012 Met Gala

Dakota Fanning did opt for a big gown for the 2012 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art this evening.

The young actress selected a Louis Vuitton lavender organza gown.

Her tulle and organza gown embroidered with floral ribbons was teamed with satin sandals and a silk lavender minaudière.

I like that she did something different with her hair, but I wish she had more height to carry this look off.

It also makes her look a bit boxy. I don’t find this flattering at all.

Keep the posts coming FC! I hated the bodice the second I saw it. I like the skirt, but she ages herself. I have written her off officially now.

But she does get points for kind of doing something new with her hair. Kind of.

Wrong color. Hate the color! Was wondering what you thought of her “improved” do, FC lol

I totally agree with you FC:
    1) Glad she did something different with her hair (it’s not HUGELY different but it’s still a change and looks nice)
    2) She is not tall enough for this look
    3) it makes her look boxy.
It’s a shame, because I can see what she was going for and I appreciate the effort. However, it didn’t pay off.

I really detest this look. I see nothign right in it. The colour’s awful, the hair’s awful, the makeup is awful. There’s somethign abotu it that is also very childlike, whilst also being very dated. Worst dressed so far for me.

  5. christine May 8, 2012 at 01:39 #

i don’t find that it has anything to do with her height, but that the dress if far too mature for her. other than that the color is great on her skin

    I HATE IT

    get a new stylist!!!

  7. CTgirl May 8, 2012 at 01:44 #

The skirt of this dress has too much of a 1950s prom feel. And another “nudish” color for Dakota. Yawn.

  8. Erin May 8, 2012 at 02:04 #

Dakota needs to learn there another shades of colors. I don’t think it’s because of the height, but that “line” it’s in her hip making her torso look super long and making her legs look very short.

I’m beginning to think that you have something against her FC. Granted, the dress isn’t the most flattering for her body shape but the photo you chose really makes her look a lot boxier than the other photos I’ve seen on various websites (justjared, cocoperez, people.com).

    • Fashion Critic May 8, 2012 at 02:22 #

Why would I have something against her?

Sorry but the comment is a tad petty and childish. I’m blogging live and taking the first photo I see.

      • chloe May 8, 2012 at 02:44 #

I didn’t mean to offend (am a huge fan of your blog!) or sound petty and childish (remember when you didn’t understand the appeal of Rachel Bilson until you had met her in person…thought it might have been a similar case here).

  10. natalie May 8, 2012 at 02:11 #

The color washes her out. Awful.

    • Grace Patricia May 8, 2012 at 02:49 #

      Agreed.

Not good at all. I would like to see her wearing some appropriate color.

I’ll give her credit for trying to change it up with her hair, but the rest of this is just bad. Her love affair with nudes and pastels is tired.

As for the actual dress, it looks like something that I would have really loved when I was about eight.

  12. Ju Alves May 8, 2012 at 03:33 #

I missing something in this look!!! The color, the make-up, I don’t like at all.

  13. kristel May 8, 2012 at 03:38 #

Oh my GOD… Am I dreaming or its really Dakota clip her hair.. hahahaha!!!! this is the first time i saw her with a little touch of hairstyle.

  14. Joy May 8, 2012 at 05:00 #

She can’t carry this dress. Too bad because I love the dress, the color is divine. I think this would have looked gorgous on Fan. What is up with her makeup? She looks like she wore none. Too bad Dakota let this dress down. :(

    • noo May 8, 2012 at 07:35 #

i love the dress too :D if someone else had worn it i would have though “audrey hepburn”!

  15. Yeliz May 8, 2012 at 05:25 #

I don’t like this at all because of the reasons that she always gives us for not liking her look. Hair, color of the dress, unflattering, make-up etc.

  16. roxana May 8, 2012 at 07:20 #

    so ugly!

  17. cat May 8, 2012 at 09:16 #

When we were young my sister and i used to put on my grandmothers gowns for the 50′s this is exactly what me looked like in them… hair an all

  18. Annel May 8, 2012 at 10:12 #

Ugh! She just keeps on looking insanely blah.

  19. Jess2 May 8, 2012 at 11:22 #

The dress is nice but the styling lets this look down. I just get furstrated when it comes to Dakota’s style!

  20. Felicia May 8, 2012 at 14:52 #

You could swear that she got dressed in the dark or something. What on earth is that?

  21. Parvati May 8, 2012 at 21:35 #

I don’t like this. The bodice is really unflattering for her figure and so is the whole gown for her height. She ends up looking much younger than she is.

  22. Tina May 9, 2012 at 11:11 #

The saome old hairstyle and boring make up, and the color of the dress washes her out.
