Solange Knowles In Shanel & Y/Project – The 70th Annual Parsons Benefit

Solange Knowles was honoured at the 70th Annual Parsons Benefit which recognizes pioneering figures in fashion and the arts that embody the university’s commitment to creativity and innovation, on Monday (May 21) in New York City.

Showing why she was honoured at the event, she wore a look that incorporated some pieces from Shanel’s Spring 2018 graduate show along with Y/Project’s transformer trousers which have been worn by Hailey Baldwin and Gigi Hadid.

Judging by your comments on Solange’s Met Gala look, I feel you are fall out of love with her style and this might just be the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Personally, I love how well thought out this look is. It perfectly shows that fashion is way of being expressive and creative, but even Solange can’t sell those Y/Projects to me.

Rihanna In Y/Project – 2018 Coachella Music Festival

I’m all for Rihanna expressing herself with avant garde runway looks, as she has an uncanny knack of making me fall in love with the most obscure outfits, but on this occasion I will have to give this Y/Project Fall 2018 look a hard pass.

I don’t question that the give the brown draped organza bow dress life, but it was the matching Y/Project x UGG suede thigh high boots that killed the look for me.

They have to be the most unflattering piece of footwear I have ever seen. And I’m truly baffled she wore them to Coachella, in the desert.

Hailey Baldwin rocks Y/Project’s detachable jeans in Paris

Hailey Baldwin has been busy this fashion month walking for Dolce & Gabbana, Julien Macdonald and Missoni, but methinks she’s happier showcasing her streetstyle.

Now, I know many of you don’t rate her style or her model credentials, so my feeling is her latest look won’t go down too well – but I couldn’t resist.

Hailey Baldwin was spotted making her way to Y/Project’s Spring 2018 show in Paris yesterday (September 26) wearing a pair of detachable forest green ‘Transformer’ jeans in a corduroy finish styled with a black sweater, lace-up army-style Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Kamilya’ boots and a studded Dsquared2 baker-boy hat.

This is not the first time we’ve seen this detachable jeans, as Gigi Hadid wore them earlier this summer, and I have to say I prefer Hailey outing.

Are you applauding this 90s-style look from Hailey, or are you too busy singing the Village People’s ‘Macho Man?’

Rihanna In Y/Project – Out In New York

The Fenty Puma By Rihanna fashion show during New York Fashion Week was on Sunday (September 10), so Rihanna has been out and about in NYC making the rounds in her own head-turning way.

Her off-duty affinity for oversized menswear has not waned with her latest street-style looks from Y/Project’s Spring 2018 Menswear collection.

Wearing the boxy blazer over ripped jeans was a trend-forward way to rock the disparate pieces, with Olgana Paris ‘Celeste’ mink fur mule sandals ending it on a playful, very Ri Ri note.

Her second look featured her own version of a Canadian tuxedo with this all-denim approach. There was a lot of fabric happening between the gigantic shirt, long belt, and comically slouched trousers.

All that to say, the first look was by and far my favourite for its more polished sensibility, despite the distressed denim.

What about you?

Chloe Sevigny In Y/Project – ‘Good Time’ New York Premiere

What we’ve learnt from Marion Cotillard and Gigi Hadid is that Y/Project ain’t for the faint-hearted.

Chloe Sevigny attended the ‘Good Time’ New York premiere on Tuesday (August 8) wearing a deconstructed blazer and shirt combo from their Spring 2017 collection.

I love how this look takes the power suit trend into a new direction, as we all know Chloe doesn’t follow the herd.

The snakeskin shoes wouldn’t have been my choice as I feel this look required a simple pair, plus I wish she’d worn her hair back to embolden the look further.

Gigi Hadid Rocks Y/Project’s Detachable Jeans

When it comes to jeans, designers are always thinking of new ways to “reinvent the wheel”.

Jeans are available in nearly every cut, colour and length you could imagine, so Y/Project opted to truly break the mould and create detachable cut-out jeans.

Most would say that Gigi Hadid is crying out for attention, but funnily enough I see this being a huge hit for festival goers. Especially here in the UK, where you can experience many seasons in a single day.

They can simply been unhooked just below your crotch and transformed into skimpy hot pants in seconds – genius, no?

If you’re not horrified by these ‘transformer denim jeans’ you may be by the price as they go for £330 ($425).
