Céline Dion Revisits Her 1997 Oscars Look In Custom Chanel Haute Couture
We are in the final week of CĂ©line Dion’s Paris residency, and the glamour on stage keeps reaching new heights. But her latest look might just be the most special of them all.

We love a fashion callback, and this one genuinely warmed my heart. The singer wore a custom Chanel Haute Couture strapless gown designed by Matthieu Blazy, paying homage to the Chanel Spring 1997 Haute Couture dress she wore to the 1997 Oscars.

And what makes this even more special is that Céline wore the very same star-shaped necklace she wore 29 years ago.

The gown itself is breathtaking. The sculpted sweetheart neckline, edged with deep-blue embellishments, gives way to a silver crystal-encrusted bodice that gradually dissolves into midnight blue. The craftsmanship is extraordinary, particularly the way the embellishments become more delicate towards the hem, creating the same graduated effect as the original design.

While the 1997 gown featured a plunging neckline and a dramatic train, Blazy’s interpretation feels like a natural evolution. The strapless silhouette is more structured, the embellishments are even more elaborate, and the overall effect is even more spectacular.
For me, this is easily the best custom design Matthieu Blazy has created for Chanel so far. He has taken one of CĂ©line’s most memorable fashion moments and given it a new chapter, without losing what made the original so special.
