Kim Kardashian Continues Her Cheongsam Era in Vintage Cavalli

Kim Kardashian was back in the paddock at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay Street Circuit on Saturday, wearing another take on the qipao, also known as the cheongsam.

After wearing vintage Yves Saint Laurent to the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opening night last month, Kim turned to the Roberto Cavalli Spring 2003 archives for her latest interpretation of the traditional Chinese dress, with the piece sourced from My Runway Archive.

The pale pink silk chiffon design features a romantic mix of pheasants and florals, along with a Mandarin-style collar and keyhole neckline. However, it’s the matching corset that really makes this feel like a Kim Kardashian look. With visible boning and hook-and-eye fastenings, it draws in the waist to create the exaggerated hourglass shape she has always loved.

I’m beginning to wonder if the cheongsam is becoming Kim’s latest fashion obsession. Two archival interpretations in as many months suggest there’s something about the style that appeals to her. And perhaps that’s the attraction: even with the traditional high collar, she can still have the cleavage, the curves and the body-conscious fit that have defined her wardrobe for years.

Nude strappy sandals completed her look.
