Renate Reinsve Wore Louis Vuitton To The Cannes Film Festival Closing Ceremony

Renate Reinsve attended the Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony, where the actress was also celebrating Fjord winning the Palme d’Or alongside her castmates.

I’m always here for someone doing something different at Cannes because, after covering this festival for so long, it’s fascinating to see red carpet style evolve while still sitting within the spirit of the event. Ruth Negga was probably the best example of that this year, moving seamlessly from minimalism and tailoring to softer, more romantic silhouettes without ever losing sight of herself.

Which brings me to Renate. I’m kind of struggling with this custom Louis Vuitton look featuring a black open-front top and low-waisted silver sequinned trousers.

Does she look great? Absolutely. The styling helps, too, with metallic Louis Vuitton pumps and Tumbler bracelets and a ring from the Louis Vuitton High Jewelry collection giving the look added shine and cohesion. But for me, this feels more like a performance outfit than a Cannes closing ceremony moment. My first thought was that I could instantly picture this on Sombr, Celine Dion, or Harry Styles.

Outside the context of Cannes, I would probably admire the confidence and attitude of it more. But on this red carpet, I’m struggling to fully connect with it.
