The 2026 London Standard Theatre Awards
The Standard Theatre Awards, which has shifted from a full-blown red carpet event to a more intimate dinner, took place this weekend in London.

Winning Energy
Hayley Atwell, who took home Best Actress for Much Ado About Nothing, stood out in an Emilia Wickstead Fall 2026 silver dress that felt entirely worthy of the occasion. The fabric has a rich, embossed texture, but what really impresses is the construction. The sculpted bodice and flared skirt hold their shape beautifully, giving the look a strong, sculptural presence from every angle. This is exactly the kind of dress you want for a winner’s moment. Kismet by Milka jewels and Roger Vivier I Love pumps completed her look.

Black Lace, Right Call
Having already secured the WhatsOnStage Award and The Stage Debut Award for her role as Eva Perón in Jamie Lloyd’s Evita, Rachel Zegler picked up Best Musical Performance here. I’m glad she opted for the black version of this Alessandra Rich Spring 2025 dress. We’ve seen her in softer, neutral tones countless times, but this felt more appropriate for an evening dinner setting. The lace, ruffled neckline, and fitted silhouette lean into a sharper, more defined mood that suits the setting far better.

Back To Base Camp
Cate Blanchett was honoured with The Lebedev Award, recognising her singular contribution and dedication to theatre. After mixed reactions to her recent Louis Vuitton and Maison Margiela Artisanal looks, which you didn’t really warm to, the actress went back to base camp with this Elie Saab Fall 2026 velvet two-piece look.

This is a rare understated moment for Cate, but it aligns perfectly with both the tone of the event and the significance of the award. Stripped-back and direct, it allows the focus to stay on her presence rather than the clothes.
