Teyana Taylor delivered one of the night’s most arresting fashion moments at the 2026 Actor Awards.

The One Battle After Another actress stepped onto the red carpet in a custom Thom Browne gown that may have felt familiar at first glance, as a similar body mapped illusion was previously seen on Rebecca Hall. The design functioned as both wearable sculpture and a study in anatomical illusion.

At the start of the year, I said I wanted Teyana to leave the abs-baring looks in 2025, and to her credit, she has. The swirling, sculptural panelling, engineered to contour and exaggerate the natural form, perfectly used tonal shading and moulded construction to create the impression of carved musculature, as if the fabric had been moulded directly onto her body. The result was surreal and statuesque, recalling classical marble sculpture while still feeling contemporary.

Below, the gown transitioned into a liquid column skirt enriched with metallic embellishments, elongating the silhouette and catching the light with each step. Ribbon-like elements extended into a soft train, adding movement to offset the structured bodice.

In a sea of predictable gowns, and there were plenty on this red carpet, this stood apart as fashion treated as art: disciplined, daring, and memorable.

I want to call this my favourite of her awards season so far, but I suspect her Oscar look will raise the bar even higher.

Stylists: Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald.
