Nicola Coughlan Wore Colin Burke To ‘The Playboy Of The Western World’ Press Night After-Party
On Thursday night, Nicola Coughlan attended the press night after party for The Playboy Of The Western World at London’s National Theatre, and it felt like a very welcome return. I’ve genuinely missed seeing her out and about, and this look reminded me exactly why she’s one of my favourites when it comes to thoughtful, personality-driven dressing.
As a bona fide sweater dress obsessive, I was instantly sold on Nicola’s custom Colin Burke knit mini dress. Sculptural and full of character, the oversized knitted texture has been shaped into something playful, giving the dress so much presence. The puff sleeves, a signature detail for the Irish designer, add drama, but the silhouette itself feels very much designed with Nicola in mind. It lands squarely in her style wheelhouse.
The styling choices deserve their own applause. I know the matching cream tights may divide opinion, but I’m firmly on board. First, I’m relieved they aren’t black. Second, bare legs in London right now would be madness. And third, the coordinating Jimmy Choo Ixia patent-leather pumps pull the whole look together beautifully, keeping the palette clean and cohesive.
Cosy, confident, and unmistakably Nicola—this is easily one of my favourite looks from her.
