Teyana Taylor was honoured at the Critics’ Choice Association’s 8th Annual Celebration of Black Cinema & Television, where she joined Regina Hall and Chase Infiniti in receiving the Ensemble Award for their work in One Battle After Another.
You’ll remember how dramatic and character-driven her wardrobe was for her press tour. But for this occasion, Teyana dialled into something more sensual, stepping out in the Nicholas Oakwell Couture Millicent Hearst lace corset embroidered gown with asymmetric fringe.
The gown almost feels like two stories stitched together: the lace corset has a lingerie-leaning softness, while the draped, fringed wrap brings a Spanish-inflected flourish with its embroidered panels and sweeping train. On the runway, the look reads theatrical and elongated. On Teyana, it becomes sharper, more defined, and rooted in her own strength and confidence. She knows how to command a gown with this much going on — she edits it with her posture alone.
The only thing I wasn’t entirely sold on? The Alexandre Birman Clarita Bell bow-accented slingbacks.
Still, as a fashion moment, this is Teyana at her most assured.
