Tyla Wore Dior by John Galliano To The 2025 Glamour Women of the Year Awards
Tyla joined Demi Moore as one of the honourees at the 2025 Glamour Women of the Year Awards at The Plaza Hotel in New York last night, and what I loved most is how considered her approach to glamour has become.

The South African singer has always been an archive girl, but the story of how she’s using the archives is shifting. Earlier in her rise we saw her lean into Roberto Cavalli’s heatwave energy: high-shine, high-octane, body-first, look-at-me colour. It worked beautifully for moments like the VMAs, where the brief is: turn up the volume. But last night’s Dior by John Galliano Spring 1998 gown showed a different facet — one that felt attuned to the setting, and the honour.

This gown is peak Galliano — slinky old-world glamour reimagined as something decadent and dreamlike. The draped olive brocade, the asymmetric beaded sleeve — it’s couture storytelling, not just a dress. Galliano always understood how to make a gown feel alive, and Tyla carried that spirit with ease.

Considering Tyla is a Pandora ambassador, it was no surprise to see her in layers of the brand’s pearl and charm jewels which added to the sense of romance.
Her makeup was glorious, and the cornrow hair gave the look a modern, cultural grounding that felt distinctly her.
This was Tyla showing us she knows when to play up the spectacle and when to let the gown speak. A beautiful, confident evolution.
