Sydney Sweeney Wore Thierry Mugler To The ‘Christy’ Hampton Film Festival Premiere

Sydney Sweeney attended the premiere of her latest film, Christy, during the Hamptons International Film Festival on Saturday in East Hampton, New York.

The actress tends to operate in three fashion modes: rare wins (see her 2025 Met Gala look), predictable moments (see her Emmys look), and the downright ridiculous. Unfortunately, this latest appearance falls into the latter. Wearing a look from the Thierry Mugler archives, Sydney stepped onto the red carpet in an outfit that left many doing a double take.

I know what you’re thinking — it’s too bridal. And you’d be right. But in fairness, the reference seems intentional. Since Christy explores themes of marriage and womanhood, the white suit with its tulle skirt and oversized bow was likely meant as a visual nod to those ideas. Conceptually, it fits.

The problem is the execution as this read more as costume. Rather than feeling like a clever fashion statement, the result looks overly literal, almost like “bridal cosplay.”

The Jimmy Choo Lotta pumps — ironically from the brand’s bridal collection — and Jennifer Meyer jewels completed her look. The whole thing just felt awkward, another in a growing string of questionable fashion moments for Sydney.
