Lily James Wore 16Arlington & Balmain To The ‘Swipe’ Toronto Film Festival and London Premieres

Lily James has gone brunette, and with it, she seems to be embracing a new mood: all-black. While promoting her new film Swipe — a biographical drama based on the life of Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder and CEO of Bumble — newly brunette Lily James is going the Jennifer Aniston route: all black.

Toronto Premiere: Structured Minimalism

In Toronto, Lily wore a strapless 16Arlington Res gown that at first looked deceptively simple. But away from the dark backdrop, the details came alive: pleated draping sweeping across the skirt, adding depth and a sense of quiet drama to the streamlined silhouette. The choice to keep the jewelry minimal was spot-on.

London Premiere: Sultry Edge

For London, she turned to the Balmain Resort 2026 collectin, in another black gown but with a completely different energy. The gold halter neckline brought instant sex appeal, giving the look a bolder, more sultry edge. If the dress feels familiar, that’s because Lindsay Lohan wore it in fuchsia for her Freakier Friday premiere in Mexico City — though Lily’s version leans darker, moodier, sexier and sharper. Fernando Jorge jewels completed her look.

Both were strong moments, but for me, the 16Arlington resonated more. It had that quiet confidence. Which side of Lily’s all-black era speaks to you?
