When it comes to red carpet appearances, Gwendoline Christie rarely leaves us disappointed. Towering, theatrical, and always a commanding presence, she usually wears fashion like it was built for her.

Which is why her appearance at the Wednesday Season 2, Part 2 Fan Event on Cockatoo Island in Sydney, Australia on Saturday, was such a letdown—especially following the announcement of her grand return to the series where she served up the best nod to her character Larissa Weems.

But when it comes to this custom Miu Miu look, the execution simply didn’t hold up. The silver metallic fabric was striking in theory, but in reality it lacked the structure the dress needed. On someone of Gwendoline’s height and presence, the proportions felt unbalanced, while the fabric betrayed the look with visible pulls and inevitable creases.

Then came the styling choices, which added more confusion. Beige leather opera gloves, with one sleeve accented in gold, were paired with matching Miu Miu pumps? This left the ensemble feeling even more disjointed. So many ideas fighting for attention, with none of them truly working together.

From the neck down, the look lacked harmony and intent—proving that even someone as fashion-forward as Gwendoline can be let down by a poor design and styling direction.
