Mamie Gummer stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her upcoming Prime Video limited series We Were Liars, where she plays Carrie Sinclair—a central figure in what’s shaping up to be a twist-filled psychological mystery.
She revealed she was “shocked” by the ending, which perfectly aligns with the show’s secretive, suspenseful tone.
But while We Were Liars leans into the dark and dramatic, her look was anything but. Wearing a Simkhai Izzy taffeta midi dress in a soft, pale yellow hue from the Pre-Fall 2025 collection, Mamie gave us a delightfully unexpected burst of sunshine. I love how the dress cleverly mimics the look of a ribbed-knit sweater and voluminous taffeta skirt.
Taffeta can be a tricky fabric—crisp in theory, crumpled in practice—but this dress hold up fairly well.
And speaking of surprises, her leopard print heels were definitely not the expected pairing, but I can’t help but appreciate the offbeat punctuation—a fitting nod to the unpredictable nature of the series itself.
