2025 Met Gala: Menswear Edition

Here is a look at the rest of the men who made a statement on the red carpet for the Superfine: Tailoring Black Style themed Met Gala. While some relied on strong shoulders and historical nods, others brought out the brooches, beads, and even a baby grand.

Zooted and booted

Maluma didn’t just understand the assignment—he handed it in with annotations and a bibliography. His custom Willy Chavarria floral suit was a literal bouquet of brilliance. The Heretic blazer’s double-breasted cut, broad shoulders, and cinched waist was more than just fashion—it was a love letter to Pachuco culture and the zoot suit, proudly reclaiming a silhouette once vilified. The drama. The statement. The tailoring. We needed so much more of this energy on the carpet. Maluma showed up looking like a revolutionary dandy in full bloom. Jacob & Co. one-of-a-kind Emerald Billionaire III timepiece completed his look.

Keys? Wallet? Grand piano?

André 3000 has never been one to blend in—and thank goodness for that. His navy Burberry workwear-inspired jumpsuit was cool and utilitarian with a twist of personal flair from his own label, Benji Bixby. But the pièce de résistance? Oh, just a casual 3D-printed Steinway strapped to his back. It’s reportedly a nod to his 7 Piano Sketches, but who’s to say? Interpretative art is alive and well at the Met, and this was giving conceptual brilliance.

brooch lover

Adrien Brody slipped into laidback elegance with his Fear of God ensemble. The silk top, cummerbund, and tailored trousers felt refined yet easy. His Elsa Jin brooch game continues strong, though I’d suggest upgrading from the suede shoes to something glossier for that full Met Gala shine. Still, he looked like he could wander into a jazz club or a GQ cover shoot without missing a beat.

Mint condition, mustard mood

Andrew Scott wasn’t just thinking outside the box; he colour-blocked the box entirely. His mint green Giuliva Heritage suit with a red waistcoat and mustard-yellow shirt was an unexpected palette—kind of like if Wes Anderson directed Peaky Blinders. The floral Swarovski brooch tied it all together. Like Maluma, this is the energy I was expecting from this event. Christian Louboutin Aiglon shoes completed his look.

Not just a pretty face

Christian Latchman, this year’s Met Gala face, wore a custom Five,Thousand suit with a pleated train bringing the drama like it was closing fashion week—his look was red carpet theatre.

Family affair

Evan Ross, joining his mother Diana and sister Tracee, turned up in a custom Eleven Sixteen by Ugo Mozie look. The ivory U-shaped Saint Laurent vest gave a gentle softness to his otherwise crisp tailoring. It felt like a nice mix of old-school romance and modern swagger, and next to his equally stylish family members, he held his own.

Tailoring 101: Start with a mannequin

Jeremy Pope brought the archive to life in a Maison Margiela Fall 1997 look that turned the him into the concept itself. The top resembled a Stockman mannequin, quite literally taking tailoring back to the drawing board. It was a bold fashion thesis—and I’m giving it an A+ for audacity and execution.

Pinstripe and personality

Leon Bridges wasn’t blending into any crowd in his navy and orange striped Nicholas Daley flared suit. With tan accessories, he made a bold print look suave and smooth. Bold, intentional, and entirely on-brand for the Texas soul crooner.

Country western couture realness

Shaboozey made it clear he’s not just a rising music star, but also a fashion contender. His custom Robert Wun suit fused the sharpness of dandy tailoring with a rugged Western flair, and the turquoise-beaded vest tied it all together.
