Mikey Madison’s Fashion Marathon For ‘Anora’
Mikey Madison first caught my attention at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of ‘Anora’ in Chanel Haute Couture – which I didn’t love. And the time she hit the ‘Lady in the Lake’ premiere in Louis Vuitton – which I also didn’t like, the fashion world was already buzzing with talk of her being the “new fashion darling.” Yet, I wasn’t convinced. Now, after a few more premieres under her belt, it’s time to revisit her red carpet appearances and see if she’s earned that title, or if it’s a premature accolade.
Toronto Film Festival Premiere
Mikey wore a sophisticated Fendi gown with its satin fabric flowing like liquid silk. But despite the dress’ appeal, the black pumps and yellow gold jewelry fell flat. The styling felt mismatched, taking away from the gown’s elegance.
Deauville American Film Festival Premiere
Dressed in a Chanel Spring 2022 Haute Couture black lace gown with green sequined floral motifs, Mikey was radiant. The sequins brought a youthful glow to the look, and the Chanel Signature Cocoon necklace was stunning. Yet again, the black pumps felt like a missed opportunity to elevate the ensemble.
New York Film Festival Premiere
Brown patent leather pumps finally broke the black-pump cycle. Paired with a Gucci Fall 2024 brown strapless bustier gown, her look felt fresh, though some might recall Nicole Kidman’s similar custom gown in nude worn for the premiere of ‘A Family Affair’ back in June. Mikey opted for a scarf instead of the gold choker Nicole wore, adding a personalised touch.
Beyond Fest Screening
This Proenza Schouler white one-shoulder dress being in the spotlight was the best course of action with muted accessories, allowing its streamlined allure to do all the talking.
London Film Festival Premiere
Things continued to take a turn for the better with this Prada gown.  While it features the labels signature embellishments and train, there wasn’t the usual feeling of déjà vu.  A sleek updo and Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany ear clips and rings completed her look.
Zurich Film Festival Premiere
Her Rodarte strapless gown’s tulle skirt got lost on the step and repeat, but her bold red lip should become a more frequent choice. It was a game-changer.  A Tiffany & Co. necklace completed her look.
New York Premiere
I remember when Kendall Jenner wore this Schiaparelli red nail dress on the Spring 2024 runway the internet lost their minds, and we were all excited to see this dress, which celebrates the allure of the classic red manicure, on the red carpet. The dress is a perfect crossover of art and fashion, but unfortunately, her shoe choice ruined the magic. Office pumps felt far too mundane for such an iconic dress.

Lastly, Mikey was spotted in Saint Laurent—a champagne cami and tobacco brown leather skirt—looking chic. But the thick black tights were jarring. It’s a reminder that black tights paired with browns need to be approached with caution.
What these looks tell is that Mickey is still finding her footing in the fashion world with the mismatched styling choices (especially those black pumps) leaving room for improvement. Will she truly become a fashion darling? Only time—and better shoes—will tell.
