Thierry Mugler: Couturissime Preview & Exhibition Opening

On Tuesday (November 15), the Thierry Mugler: Couturissime exhibition made its US debut at the Brooklyn Museum in New York with a host of celebrities in attendance.
It’s easy to wear an outfit, but selling it is an entirely different proposition.
Laverne Cox is doing both wearing this Mugler all black design. Â
Not only is she selling the look by giving us angles to showcase the sculptural details, but she is also so emotive that you can’t help but be drawn in like a moth to a flame.

Every time I see Rowan Blanchard, I don’t recognise her until I see her name in the credits.
I have no issues with cut-out dresses, or underboob as you know, but everything feels so forced here, that it’s impossible to enjoy anything about this.

This Mugler catsuit is something that Dua Lipa pretty much made her own for her performance looks since 2020, and it’s a design that I actually love as Creative Director, Casey Cadwallader reworks each season.
But Lourdes Leon is so lifeless in this one-piece.  She really isn’t doing it justice.  Which is a shame, especially at this event.

Love or loathe Julia Fox, she understood the assignment in this Mugler outfit.
She gives power, confidence, and body. The makeup also sells the otherworldly, apocalyptic vibe of it all.

Tinashe was so close to making this Mugler look work, but it’s too tight on the bust, and she needed black underwear.
Those earrings are as awesome as they are frightening.

Young Emperors – Isabelle Chaput and Nelson Tiberghien – were probably my favourite from this Mugler-filled red carpet.
The French duo, who are visual artists, perhaps were the only ones (aside from Laverne Cox) who opted to layer and transform their looks into an avant-garde masterpieces as the designer intended.Â
