Kelly Marie Tran Wore Thai Nguyen Atelier To The 2022 Oscars

I will get onto the men and Vanity Fair Oscar Party looks soon (thanks for being so patient. As you know it’s a marathon over here and not a sprint.  We have all week as there are too many looks to skip), but I had to feature Kelly Marie Tran at the 2022 Oscars on Sunday (March 27), as her look didn’t get as much love as it should have.

If you’re a regular here, you will remember her ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ promo tour.  Especially the virtual premiere where she wore a custom Thai Nguyen gown.

Well magic does indeed strike twice, as the actress wore another custom Thai Nguyen Atelier traditional Vietnamese Áo Dài ensemble which features a silk satin crepe pant, hand embroidered and beaded tulle lace detachable cape and handed beaded khan dong (headdress).

This breath-taking look was created by 6 artisans and took over 1400 hours to complete.

I don’t know what I admire more.  The striking colour, the intricate details, the styling, matching with her companion, or how she so proudly represents her heritage.

I think it’s the latter.
