Meghan, Duchess of Sussex Wore Carolina Herrera To The 2021 Salute To Freedom Gala

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex made their first red carpet appearance of the year for the 2021 Salute To Freedom Gala held at Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum on Wednesday (November 10) in New York City.

The Duchess wore a red Carolina Herrera gown designed for her by Creative Director, Wes Gordon, as part of the Pre-Fall 2022 collection, which featured a train.

For someone who dressed so sombre during her time at the palace – we all now know why – this bold colour came as quite a shock I have to say.

I’ve never been a huge fan of in motion red carpet pictures (unless you’re Lady Gaga of course), because these shots don’t allow you to take in the full beauty of the gown, a hurried step can distort the clean lines, create folds where there shouldn’t be etc etc.

But in this case, I don’t need Meghan posing on the red carpet to see that there are a few issues with the structure of the bodice.

I can’t say that I’m a huge fan of the central slit either with a train.  It feels a bit dated to me.

I really wanted to be able to gush about Meghan’s first red carpet look back after leaving the palace, but I found it impossible to look past the nitpicks.

Meghan herself is glowing.

Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Samia’ pumps completed her look.
