Zendaya may have lost out to Carey Mulligan in her Best Actress category, but the Malcolm & Marie star didn’t go home empty handed at the 2021 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday (March 7), as she was honored with the SeeHer Award, that recognize a woman who embodies the values set by the SeeHer movement, which advocates for accurate portrayals of women and girls in advertising and media.
A ball skirt will always have a dreamy fairy-tale quality to me.
Some might feel that the ivory silk crepe top of her Valentino Spring 2021 Haute Couture look was a bit too modest for this dramatic fluorescent orange scuba, silk, organza and taffeta skirt; and wish she had dressed it up with something else.
But I feel like this look perfectly represents her style which is easy glamour, that doesn’t seek to follow; as she makes her own rules as a style leader, rather than a follower.
The brand ambassador for Valentino styled her look with the most gorgeous colourful jewels from Bvlgari (for whom she is also a brand ambassador), and a half loose, half cornrow, top knot hairstyle completed the look.
