Rihanna & LVMH Are Closing Fenty

Rihanna’s foray into luxury fashion with LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton has come to a halt, as reported by WWD this morning.

They have mutually agreed to put the Fenty maison on hold, less than two years after the launch.

The last collection on Fenty.com dates back to November 2020; which was a footwear line in collaboration with shoe designer, Amina Muaddi.

It is understood the e-commerce site – the main distribution channel for Fenty fashions – will go dark in the next few weeks.

Unfortunately, I am not surprised.

I said time and time again, why is Rihanna not wearing her own line?

And when she did wear her own collection, I just didn’t love it.  And if Rihanna can’t sell her own line, who can?

Sonam Kapoor didn’t.  Kiki Layne did her best, but all in all I’m just not sure the brand appealed to the masses.

Was this down to the price point being out of reach for her fans?

Possibly, but also there was nothing exciting about it, plus the quality of the fabric was highly questionable for me.

Imagine paying hundreds of dollars, pounds, or Euros, for an outfit that isn’t crease proof.

Aside from Rihanna, the only other person I see being very sad about this closure is Dorit Kemsley from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, who is only the fourth person I have seen wearing this collection.

With her Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin and Savage x Fenty businesses booming, I think this will give her more time to concentrate on those empires, and perhaps Fenty maison will come back in the future with a more concentrated focus on what will appeal to the masses.
