Li Yuchun 李宇春 In Balmain Haute Couture -‘Les Miserables’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Li Yuchun aka Chris Lee made her first appearance of Cannes Film Festival 2019, where she attended the premiere of ‘Les Miserables’ on Wednesday (May 15) in France.

Yup.  I know what you’re thinking.

This Balmain Spring 2019 Haute Couture look should’ve been her Met Gala outfit.

I knew this was going to happen.

This is more camp than the Gucci embroidered gown, but as an ambassador of the brand, perhaps you don’t get much say, as you’re perhaps at the mercy of the designers vision.

Back to this.

It’s quite a weird and wonderful creation with the feathers, paillettes and braided detailing.

Practical? Nope.  Restrictive? Yes.

But a walking work of art nonetheless.

Pretty awful…if there has to be something strange about the architecture of the outfit, it should at least be attractive. This is not.

Interesting, but if she couldn’t move her arms then it’s a stupid dress.

    Now that’s CAMP.
I’m glad she ditched those awful pearl shaped cuffs on the runway, that would’ve been too much.
weird AF yet at the same time striking.

Not a fan of Balmain, but I’m buying what she’s selling here.

Not gonna lie I quite like it. I also feel she could’ve rocked them Big B cuffs.

Oi. Its creepy, unappealing and restrictive. The feathers look just horrid, like glue drips.ugh.
I agree about the Met. It would of worked better there and vice versa.
But I dont see this monstrosity as a work of art.

Well as long as she doesn’t have to eat, applaude, or put her arms in the air like she just doesn’t care – then I guess its kinda of cool.

It’s a weird and creepy and am wondering about how comfortable her arms are but she’s really rocking this with panache that few could match.

Agree this would have been amazing at the Met Gala, and I’m not even trying to be extra – but I actually think it needs the large bauble cuffs to really sing!

I would have appreciated the craftsmanship of this look even more had the trousers been plain white, without any feathers or piallettes or whatever that is. Between that, the gloves and the shaggy hair I can’t seem to shake the “bird in a strait jacket” feeling.

It’s the product of a yeti meeting a chicken. I’m not a fan.

    Definitely should’ve been her MET

I mean.. it’s weird AF but it’s super bold and she’s rocking it.

My first thought when I saw this was why didn’t she wear this to the Met Gala.

I’m sure many will say the same. This would’ve been a slam dunk at the Met
