Cardi B In Vintage Mugler – 2019 Grammy Performance and Acceptance

Those who were living for the theatricality of Cardi B’s Vintage Mugler Haute Couture red carpet look should be delighted that she wore four different outfits from the designer’s archive to the 2019 Grammys on Sunday (February 10).

It marked the second time in 25 years that the house presented several archival looks to a celebrity.

For her performance, the rapper was in top showgirl form in Vintage Mugler Fall 1995. It was a performance piece in every sense of the word with the purple duchess satin and black velvet coat providing an attention-grabbing frame for the coordinating rhinestone-embellished bodysuit.

The animal print and graphic embellishment played into her aesthetic and felt very modern finish.

To accept her Best Rap Album award for ‘Invasion of Privacy’ with Offset, the Bronx beauty donned a Mugler Spring 1997 white crepe shawl dress with white fringe.

Never one to dial down the drama, she finished with fringed gloves, like the look from the ‘Les Insectes’ couture show.

Seeing the incredibly long fringing in movement during a performance would have been spectacular but the draping was appreciated as she gave her speech.

There’s so much fringing to look at one almost misses the sweeping decorative neckline.
