Cardi B In Vintage Mugler – 2019 Grammy Performance and Acceptance

Cardi B In Vintage Mugler - 2019 Grammy Performance and Acceptance

Those who were living for the theatricality of Cardi B’s Vintage Mugler Haute Couture red carpet look should be delighted that she wore four different outfits from the designer’s archive to the 2019 Grammys on Sunday (February 10).

It marked the second time in 25 years that the house presented several archival looks to a celebrity.

For her performance, the rapper was in top showgirl form in Vintage Mugler Fall 1995. It was a performance piece in every sense of the word with the purple duchess satin and black velvet coat providing an attention-grabbing frame for the coordinating rhinestone-embellished bodysuit.

The animal print and graphic embellishment played into her aesthetic and felt very modern finish.

To accept her Best Rap Album award for ‘Invasion of Privacy’ with Offset, the Bronx beauty donned a Mugler Spring 1997 white crepe shawl dress with white fringe.

Never one to dial down the drama, she finished with fringed gloves, like the look from the ‘Les Insectes’ couture show.

Seeing the incredibly long fringing in movement during a performance would have been spectacular but the draping was appreciated as she gave her speech.

There’s so much fringing to look at one almost misses the sweeping decorative neckline.

The first outfit was fantastic. Totally on theme with her performance. I really enjoyed it
The second would be better without the gloves

This was more of a performance outfit with all that fringe, as seen on the model. It would have made a real dramatic statement had she been singing and dancing in it.

Both looks are great. I’m surprised at how much I’m liking those fringed gloves.

Anyone know who was the previous celebrity to wear archive Mugler?

Beyoncé for her music videos and tour in 2008/9. Also for some promo shoots and videos in 2013.

Shaking those tail feathers, lol. She’s petite and so it is even more amazing that she can handle looks like this and not be swallowed up. I like both of these looks. Also like her pianist for the “Money” routine, must find out who that is.

While I didn’t care for her Ursula the Sea Witch costume, I really like both of these.

It’s cool seeing old archives being brought out.

    Love both!

The performance outfit was FIRE. She worked that gaint tail feather piece.

As for the white outfit, She should has taken off the gloves. She looks good tho.

That white Mugler dress is sensational.

I think I would have liked different hair or keep the hairstyle but take off the gloves but overall I’m enjoying these looks.
