Cardi B’s Dsquared² Next Level Ugly Sneakers

What is an ugly sneaker?

It’s classed as an unattractive running shoes with disproportionately large soles, padding, tongues and grooves that, when worn, are deciphered as cooly ironic, not dreadfully sincere.

It became one of the weirdest trends of 2018, but what’s stranger still is the amount of designers which jumped on the trend.

We’ve seen Louis Vuitton’s ‘Archlight’ sneakers, Balenciaga’s ‘Triple S’ sneakers, Prada’s scuba shoe and just this week Tom Ford announced the launch of their own ‘Jago’ sneakers.

However, Cardi B showed on her Instagram this week that there is one ugly sneaker that trumps ALL others; the Dsquared2 Frankenstein sneakers which look like a combination of wedges and running shoes.

While these make me recoil in horror, I feel like this is only the beginning, and perhaps next season we will see more brands jump on this trend.

Have any of you been seduced by the “yet?

Cardi B In Chanel – Atlanta Hawks v Boston Celtics

Cardi B In Chanel - Atlanta Hawks v Boston Celtics

Cardi B and Offset stepped out for date night and hit the town – or the court, technically – with some friends the day after Thanksgiving, to watch the Atlanta Hawks take on the Boston Celtics at State Farm Arena on Friday (November 23) in Atlanta, Georgia.

The rapper may have out her own fashion collection with Fashion Nova, but she was drippin’ in high fashion for her court-side appearance in Chanel Resort 2019.

Her two-piece tweed suit styled with black Louboutins was a very unexpected choice. Who knew Cardi B could do uptown girl?

A touch of downtown flavour was added with her chunky jewelry which included a neckplate with her name on it.

Cardi B In Valery Kōvalska – Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Cardi B In Valery Kōvalska - Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Cardi B made a guest appearance Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesay (October 16), where the ‘I Like It’ singer talked about keeping her 3-month-old Kulture out of the spotlight, plus all things motherhood—including the (scarring) details of what went down in her birthing suite.

Known for her larger-than-life red-carpet looks, I was pleasantly surprised by how smart she looked in this suited cobalt blue look from Valery Kōvalska’s Spring 2019 collection.

I love the fresh feel of the sporty striped trousers, and pleated asymmetrical blazer.

Give me this over another blah look from xyz any day.

Cardi B In Moschino – 26th Birthday Party

Cardi B In Moschino - 26th Birthday Party

Cardi B turned 26 on Thursday (October 11), but waited until the weekend to celebrate in style with with husband Offset, who threw a surprise birthday bash at the Beauty & Essex lounge in Los Angeles.

The birthday girl wore a pink and white Moschino Spring 2019 wrap dress with the outfit’s corresponding hat and tights embroidered with scribbles which was oozing a vintage ’80s vibe.

Some might find this a bit cartoonish, but I like the fun essence of this look, and her attempting to make the look her own with the bubble pink Casadei pumps and black hat.

Cardi B In Dolce & Gabbana - 2018 American Music Awards

Cardi B was looking like a a fresh bouquet of flowers at the 2018 American Music Awards on Tuesday (October 9) in LA.

The rappers Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2019 flower-patterned gown with a matching headpiece , plus the largest earrings known to mankind, was one of the more expressive and eye-catching looks we saw on this red carpet.

It really has been the year – and continual rise – of Cardi B, and this look couldn’t have been a more perfect way to celebrate it.

Cardi B In Michael Costello – Out In Paris

Cardi B recently performed at the ETAM runway show during Paris Fashion Week, in which she wore a feathered extravaganza.

And, you could say the peacocking continued with this show-stopping, street-style look that she likewise debuted during Paris Fashion Week on Sunday (September 23).

This Michael Costello peacock-feather-printed dress was a performance piece to be sure, yet Cardi B made the sidewalk her stage for this one. And, I couldn’t be happier about it — most so, because she wore the look instead letting it wear her.

She worked every square centimetre of this vivacious fashion moment, and it was giving me all the best ’80s-meets-vintage-meets-French style vibes.

The print was dynamic; the slit sexy; and the shoulders straight from Dynasty. But, it was the matching Michael Costello hat tilted atop her head that really took the dramatic look to major territory.

Cardi B In Christian Cowan – ETAM Runway Show

Cardi B In Christian Cowan - ETAM Runway Show

On her own flight of fancy, Cardi B performed at the ETAM runway show during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday (September 25) in France.

While feathered looks are nothing new, this Christian Cowan Spring 2019 ensemble easily one-upped the rest with its exaggerated notions. You could easily say that the designer’s lilac display of plumage was made for the stage.

And, leave it to Cardi B to oblige.

Anywhere else, this feather-adorned suit may have been for the birds — literally. But, as a performance piece, styled with matching lilac hair and Casadei pumps, it’s an extravaganza that doesn’t have to make excuses for its sass.
