Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Jenny Packham – Diplomatic Corps Reception

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon feature the Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Jenny Packham - Diplomatic Corps Reception

The royal family welcomed guests to the annual white tie Diplomatic Corps reception at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday (December 4).

Yesterday I said that methinks that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has a new stylist, and this latest gown from Jenny Packham all but confirms it.

Could this be a more perfect princess moment?

I don’t think I have been this flushed with excitement for Catherine’s style since her 2011 Jenny Packham dress worn to the ARK gala.

How can I explain this?

This is the most princessy princess dress the Duchess has worn. With feeling overwrought, and you know, too princessy. Grown up. Fit for a Queen. It makes sense in my mind.

There is just the right smattering of embellishments, the House of Garrard ‘Lovers Knot’ tiara of course enhances the regal air, and the accessories which included the yellow Royal Family Order, silver box clutch and earrings rounded things of perfectly.

This is infinitely better than the Alexander McQueen gown she wore back in October. Hopefully Jenny Packham will be her go-to designer for these events in the future.

Which of Catherine’s three looks would you want up for BDOTW? Or is that a silly question?

Wowwwww! The perfect princess moment! She looks gorgeous! Love the tiara and earrings with the dress too. This is all my princess dreams come true!

The dress is very nice, but with this makeup she looks like she is 60 y.old. At least. She is only 36! What is up with those cheekbones? Somebody forgot to blend her contouring? And the forehead? Really, nobody can do better makeup in the whole UK?

Her makeup is generally so bad and aging that I am pretty convinced that it is not being done by a professional but rather that she does it herself in a poorly lit room.

I think she looks amazing. I cut her style down often but these last 3 times have been great. I don’t get the twee vibe at all.

I think my favourite of the 3 though is the first tartan skirt. She just looked so chic and comfortable and beautiful. Loved it.

+1 I don’t think this is too juvenile either. If a real-life princess can’t wear these types of gowns, I don’t know who can! To me, the whole look is quite enchanting.

Absolutely gorgeous! She had a magnificent week style-wise.

Beautiful dress and beautiful woman, but she is shrinking before our eyes.

I wish people wouldn’t comment on her body type. She’s always, always been slim and fit. Her mother has the same shape

I don’t get why people get so excited about her. There’s SO many other royal women that dress better and more interesting than her. So sick of how much praise she gets for nothing.

      I couldn’t agree more!
Laeticia, Maxima, Marie dress much better than her but we never see a post

Moreover her make up here is terrible !

I don’t like her make up here.

The gown is princessy but who would be more suitable to wear it if not a real princess.

The first look out of 3 this week is still the winner for me.

What I really like about this is that it is floaty and ethereal without being at all see-through.

I really wish others could take note that a light-as-air gown can be rendered decent while keeping its aesthetic. No need to show your nipples or your knickers or put all the emphasis on the lining.

I totally get the comments about it being a bit juvenile; the tulle and the sparkles, but something about the styling adds a maturity to it I think. For her, I definitely think it’s a personal best.

Like I said yesterday, this is my favorite of the three. Thank you for covering it! I do hope she’s gotten a new stylist! Whatever is making the difference, I hope she keeps it up! The last time I got this excited was when she wore the turquoise Packham to the Olympic Gala or whatever it was in 2012. Sheer perfection.

I’ve long thought DNA style-wise Jenny Packham was a more natural fit than Alexander McQueen for Catherine. I’d like to see one of this week’s day looks in the poll too as they feel like a real notice of change in her style.

That’s absolutely stunning, she’s really starting to look more and more regal with every event, I mean now you can say „this is a future queen” without a single doubt. This dress is both elegant and subtle and her styling is just perfect. And tiaras look amazing on her, I wish she could wear them more often.

    I don’t like this.
This look is pretty ridiculous for an adult IMO.

I agree. My first thought was that this looks like a pre-teen’s or teen’s formal dress. I am not getting the awe.

It’s the bottom half that takes it too far into teen territory for me

    • Mel December 7, 2018 at 4:26 am #

Agreed, it is way too young for a nearly 40 year old woman.
She also needs a new makeup artist, that contour is horrible.

Truly princessy moment. The dress is stunning!
