Chadwick Boseman In Versace – Saturday Night Live

Chadwick Boseman brought Wakanda to ‘Saturday Night Live’ this past weekend on Saturday (April 7).

I have been infatuated with the actor’s style ever since the ‘Black Panther’ promo tour, so I was more than ready for another statement look from him.

And, he rightfully delivered in this Versace Fall 2018 ensemble.

What immediately struck me was how effortlessly—even royally—he wore this bold expression of colours that ran throughout the plaid coat and the decorative, iconic sweater underneath.

Perfectly tempered by the navy trousers and polished brown Christian Louboutin ‘Samson’ Chelsea boots, the look was strong and daring in all the right ways—adding more star power to the signature ‘SNL’ monologue.

Casually high-fashion—without a hint of pretense. Would you agree?

Love the look!! I want the entire outfit from head to toe for a fall function this year. I’ll look good in it, just not as good as Mr. Boseman….that’s confidence, not arrogance talking. 😉

If I saw this on a street style star I probably wouldn’t like this outfit but I really appreciate it on a Hollywood male celeb. Anything unusual is welcome. I wish the trousers were different. Even if it’s from the runway I feel the office trousers is incongruous with the rest of the outfit.

I’m not loving this look on him… I never thought I would say that about Chadwick. Guess there is a first time for everything.

I don’t dislike it, but all i see is post-it notes around his waist.

lol they look like the vestigal remains of the Roman Pteruges skirts. Roman theme is a Versace staple too.

The risks he takes usually pays off but I don’t care for this.

I don’t love it but note to Jared Leto – this is how it’s done without looking ridiculous.

    • james April 10, 2018 at 10:32 #

True. Jared Leto tries too hard.

    • Pheephee April 10, 2018 at 15:18 #

Exactly! Jared Leto note was my first thought too.

    • justme April 10, 2018 at 19:32 #

Jared would have added polka dot pants and faux fur slippers for absolutely no reason.

    All hail the King.

Love it, and it really popped on live TV.

I’m gonna disagree here, sorry:) I’d rather put this ensemble on anyone from Tommy Dorfman to Timothee Chalamet or Tom Holland, Ansel Elgort, Charlie Plummer and so on…, you name it hehe, before I’d even consider Chadwick.

..oops, meant to be a reply to Vizual Ninja below… I think some others would wear this better.

Not really, doesn’t suit his look/persona…would be better on someone a bit more boyish-looking like Timothee Chalamet (those extra cool runaway boots included) or Tommy Dorfman. The slightly shrunken silhouette, the cheesy color palette, that sweater… all look kinda wrong and cheesy on Chadwick.

I think that is nice to watch the small shift that started to happen regarding men’s fashion and above all about the codes of masculinity in general. A man’s man in such colourful attire makes it even more interesting than we could’ve expected in a younger man.

    Love it.

Absolutely adore it! but that might be because I am obsessed with his looks; his stylist, if he has one, deserves a massive raise… lol

It’s fun and cool but still quite smart. A slight reduction in points because it’s ripped from the runway apart from the boots.

It’s fun and although it’s from the fall collection, it just feels like light and bright like spring. I like it!

  15. Vizual Ninja April 9, 2018 at 23:00 #

Well, not my favourite of his but it’s fun for SNL I suppose, and he wears it better than anyone else possibly could.
