Jennifer Lawrence In Christian Dior Couture – 2018 BAFTAs

Posted by Catherine Kallon

Jennifer Lawrence was of course in Dior Couture for the 2018 BAFTAs in London this evening (February 18).

The union has had its ups and downs, but things have been nothing but plain sailing in recent times.

This was perfectly demonstrated by her Spring 2018 Couture black tuxedo gown featuring pale-pink stole sleeves embroidered with organza flowers.

On one had the look is classically timeless, yet on the other, it possesses contemporary vision.

I’m in total awe.

Absolutely love this. Understated and yet a contender for the BDOTY longlist.

One of the best Dior gowns in the last couple of years. I love the upper part, it is so modern and chick.

I’d call it quite the opposite: Elizabethan.

Love it! One of her better Dior looks!

  4. Susie February 19, 2018 at 12:15 pm #

Love this. The severe, almost monastic quality of the structured gown and her prim pose are a great contrast against that sultry red lip and the off-the-shoulders sleeves. I think this is one of her best Dior’s in the last few years.

She looks great (apart of the hair), but I just do not feel that it show cases her beauty and is the right style of dress for her.

    LOVE this!
And quite a shift for Dior. This is neo-gothic and that armour-ish bodice is an inspired nod to feminine power from Chiuri.

I have a thing against these gowns with bodices that move opposite to a woman’s stride. It’s strange. A gown should support the breasts, not argue with them.

The dress ages her a lot, her hair and makeup do nothing to help.

I really like the dress, but unfortunately Jennifer does not bring any life to it.

Dress is stunning, much better on the model. Her hair looks greasy and unstyled, it brings down the look

I don’t think it’s aging, I think it’s boring. The bodice is terrible and so is her hair.

For me this is one of her best looks ever! Flawless

yooo. that does not look like JLaw!!?

Actually loved this dress on her. Love the contrasting structures of the dress with the white straps. One of the few times she looks good wearing Dior.

I saw more pics of this is whole look and she doesn’t look good at all especially her hair (it looks greasy and sloppy)

    I love this.

      Me too. Very interesting cut

  17. Evita February 19, 2018 at 12:31 am #

Boxy cut, unflattering dress and her hair looks really bad. It’s also aging in my eyes and it just doesn’t feel like Jen. Someone like Charlotte Rampling would have looked great in this

The bodice looks like armor and is not a good look. .

One of her best-ever looks. MOdern classic.

Sooo yesterday I was browsing through this Dior yesterday, stopped at this dress and thought to myself, “Jen will wear this to the BAFTA’s tomorrow.”. I then convinced myself that she wouldn’t because it looks a little too “mature” for her. Like something an older actress will wear. Looks like I was right the first time haha. Although I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised by how lovely it looks on her. I really do love this gown and I also love the way she’s styled it (hair and makeup are both gorgeous!).
Her RC appearances have been good lately and this is another one I can’t fault!

What are this weeks lottery numbers? 😀

  20. Nat39 February 18, 2018 at 11:26 pm #

Beautiful. I like the sleekness of the line and the modern feel of the tux-inspired elements, and those delicate off-the-shoulder sleeves are dreamy and a perfect unexpected contrast. Loving the red lip accent as well. J’adore.

I wish the bodice was shaped differently, this looks too much like a period dress to me.

  22. Leandra February 18, 2018 at 11:14 pm #

The contrast between the structured bodice, almost like an armour in juxtaposition with the delicate organza and the duality of the colour scheme all together are sending the message: I’m pretty but I’m, not a doll, I can kick a++es as well.
One of her best appearances lately.

      Perfect critique – I agree!

For her, its certainly not bad.For Dior, its certainly not bad.

its another simple look, like Angelinas…..the difference is Angelinas simplicity looks so much more refined and regal.
    This looks somewhat unpolished.

  24. QueenBee February 18, 2018 at 11:05 pm #

BAM. Total movie star. At first I wasn’t convinced about the sleeves but they’ve won me over.

Upon first look there was something I didn’t like about this, perhaps the “sharpness” of the bodice, but the more I look at it the more I love it, she looks amazing!
