Matilda de Angelis In Fendi & Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini – ‘Una Famiglia’ Venice Film Festival Premiere

Posted by Rachel Watkins

Italian actress Matilda de Angelis was at the photocall and premiere for ‘Una Famiglia’ during the Venice Film Festival on Monday (September 4).

Photocall: In a look that combined a retro sensibility with ladylike-punk flair, Matilda wore this Fendi Resort 2018 ensemble that certainly stood out for its boldness of form and bright cotton-candy-pink hue. I can only assume the hair was purposefully mussed-up to echo the slightly rebellious femininity that was offered here—a world in which those Fendi platforms also fit the bill.

Premiere: If she was wearing a mood ring, it would have completely changed colours with her second look, a mint-green Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini gown that saw her floating in a softly romantic cloud of tulle. Mullet gowns aren’t always the most well-received, but this explosion of froth with its nearly impossible number of layers swept away the red carpet with hints of fancifulness. I might have opted for a metallic shoe as opposed to the black sandal, although they did provide an interesting counterpoint to her raven locks. Delfina Delettrez jewels completed the look.

I think the first is okay, it works on her, and the second is actually really beautiful. A lot of things others criticise about it are actually points that make it work for me, like the uneven hem that gives it a bit of an edge and keeps it from looking too twee, or the black sandals that really pull the look together imo.
(except the low-sitting bodice, that needs to be pulled up, but that’s more of a nit-pick for me.)

Both outfits look unfinished. esp the second one.

    No to both looks.

Like Kathy, I also think the second dress looks like someone took scissors to it, haphazardly.
It also badly needs to be lifted up on her chest. It looks dangerous.

    What SilentVisitor said.

I don’t love either look. The gown has potential, but the bodice needs to sit higher on her chest. The asymmetrical hem also looks haphazard instead of intentional, like someone took to it with scissors in an angry fit.

I only like the skirt in her first look

Her second look is frumpy and a big No from me. The fit around the bust is terrible and it looks like the dress is about to fall off of her; the picture with the kiss makes it even more obvious…..
