Lily Aldridge In Vintage John Galliano & Zac Posen – Bvlgari Festa Party

To celebrate the launch of its new ‘Festa’ High Jewellery collection, Bvlgari hosted a two-day fete in the heart of Venice, Italy, with beauties including model Lily Aldridge in attendance.

Thursday (June 29): While her vintage John Galliano gown was stunning in its streamlined silhouette and depth of hue, it really served as a canvas to elevate the striking multi-colour Bvlgari jewels even more. They even took my attention away from the slight creases in the dress, no doubt a result of her being seated. Giuseppe Zanotti sandals rounded out the look.

Friday (June 30): Breathtaking Bvlgari jewels were also the centre of attention in Lily’s second look, by which a Zac Posen Fall 2017 red gown provided equal dramatic power to the sparkle quotient. The crease factor was also slightly at play here, but what I loved about this look was its sculptural prowess that was echoed in the curve of the necklace and her sleek bun.

Wow! Both looks are so so beautiful. She looks extraordinary in both!! And she shows off the jewels so perfectly. This is how to present necklaces properly!! Beautiful dresses. Styled perfectly.
Love. I have both in my BDOTW.

That deep and cool amethyst column with the asymmetrical neckline — an exquisite setting for a gorgeous necklace.

Commenting on the occasional creases of one given outfit is like commenting on the scratches on the sole of a shoe, IMHO
First looks is stunning. Designers alike should look and learn how to work with this particular textile. Galliano is a genius not only in creativity but also technically.

Yes, it is a nitpick, but creases do occasionally interfere with the visual streamline of a look, especially when there’s not much else going on. With all the resources at Lily’s disposal, I don’t think a crease-free outfit is too much to ask. They have portable steamers for that.

      • A famous nobody July 3, 2017 at 12:35 pm #

I don’t see how those 2 creases could “interfere” on the appreciation of this look. Besides, she was sitted AFTER the steamer, obviously. Unless she stands still like a statue there was no way to avoid them.
I miss those times when posts here were full of wittiness and grace, not pettiness. Perhaps that is the reason the number of comments have fallen so drastically. And the commments sometimes were as entertaining ( or more ) as the posts themselves. Ahh those lovely times…. Catherine we miss you.

I also find that the first thing my brain does when looking at an outfit is make a snarky comment about its faults. These thoughts you can often find in the comments. Bringing grace and wittiness takes a bit more time and effort. Though I applaud you for bringing it up, I for one will try to strive more towards this goal.
I think the reason the number of comments have fallen is because the blog has been offline for such a period of time, and it takes time for people to find their way back. I for one have been following for years, and have only started commenting this week because I miss those comments, and this blog deserves them. Perhaps there are more like me that will follow. For the bloggers: keep up the good work, I greatly appreciate your work.

I appreciate their work as well .For some reason I come here several times a day . I know Catherine devotes a serious and sustained effort for EXCELLENCE at her work. I sincerely wish she takes my comment as an intent to achive the level of professionalism she offered us before. I feel like this RCFW is like a diluted version of the previous one. Commenters are like tiptoeing with their words. I liked that some level of controversy ( with limits of respect and good education , obviously) of the old version. It was constructive and educational as well.

A famous nobody – thanks for your comment. I totally understand the context in which it has been written and take no offense at all.

Sorry, you feel the site has been diluted.

I have different writers on the site so its not so heavily devoted to one voice. Writing every post on the site takes it toll.

I have devoted more time to research, but will continue to post, just not as much a before.

Yes, comments are down. But if you look at sites like JustJared, Fashionista and others, its the same across the board and not exclusive any one site.

I don’t see how commenting on a few creases translates to “pettiness”, but to each their own. Then again, at the end of the day it’s a fashion blog and it certainly makes my life easier to remind myself not to take it too seriously. I echo the sentiment that the lack of comments is probably due to the recent resurgence of the blog and the diversity of new writers. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the old readers/commenters weren’t even aware the blog was back up…though that’s through no fault of Catherine’s.
