Get The Look: Rashida Jones’ ‘Big Hero 6’ Premiere Braided Messy Topknot

Disney's "Big Hero 6" - Los Angeles Premiere - ArrivalsCelebrity hairstylist Kylee Heath worked with Rashida Jones for Disney’s ‘Big Hero 6’ premiere on Tuesday (November 4).

Kylee shares her beauty inspiration: “We were inspired by the high neck and coolness of her electric-blue pantsuit to create a braided messy topknot.”

Here’s how to get the look.

She started on damp hair, spraying Bumble and Bumble Tonic Lotion from the roots to the mid-shaft and Serge Normant Meta Lush Volumizer from the mid-shaft through the ends. She rough dried Rashida’s hair and then polished the ends and bangs with an Ibiza Round Brush.

Once the hair was dry, she sectioned off the front from near the top of one ear to the other. Using a fine-tooth comb and a light spray of R+Co Outer Space Hairspray, she pulled the hair up into a ponytail at the top of the section. Then she pulled the front section back and sprayed with more R+Co, adding it to the ponytail, leaving only the bangs out.

The trick to a perfect ponytail is pulling it up in sections.

She then broke the pony into five sections, braiding three and lightly teasing two. She wrapped each section around the base of the ponytail and pinned them into place, creating a braided messy topknot.

Once the hair was up, she round-brushed the bangs to fall to one side. To finish she sprayed the bangs and bun with Leonor Greyl Laque Souple for added hold and shine.
