Sarah Hyland In CH Carolina Herrera – 2013 Emmy Awards

Sarah Hyland In CH Carolina Herrera - 2013 Emmy Awards

I had high hopes for Sarah Hyland at tonight’s 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

After a young, fresh entrance at the BAFTA LA TV Tea Party, the ‘Modern Family’ starlet took a mature turn. She actually skipped any sign of Marchesa in favour of a custom CH Carolina Herrera design.

The plunging, grass-green silk gown, overlaid in black Chantilly lace, was dramatic enough. Then, Sarah turned up the intensity even more with Lorraine Schwartz jewels, including emerald statement earrings, along with a cocktail ring and cuff bracelet.

She styled the dress with an ombre-effect ponytail, along with a dark oxblood pout and mahogany mani.

When I see such a striking, theatrical entrance from Sarah, I cannot help but wish that she would just dress her age and have a bit more lighthearted fun.

sadly makes her look short and old

The makeup is awful! Really really awful!!! The dress isn’t bad, but the makeup is truly hideous. Whoever did this to a pretty young girl should be fired!!

I am about a month older that Sarah (we are almost 23) and I would wear this in a heartbeat. I am not a big fan or her style on many occasions but I adore this dress and I think she looks great.

For me it’s just too much going on with the statement dress, statement earrings, statement lipcolor, statement bracelets etc… I think a smaller clutch, a neat bun, softer makeup and, I don’t know, just SMALLER earrings would have made this look so much better.

I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever liked ANYTHING she has ever worn.

She looks more and more like Mila Kunis every day – the look is quite old but not entirely without merit

    Way too dark.

Even though I could do without the dark lippie, I like this a lot. I think it’s an appropriate look for someone in her 20s.

To me the issues start with the lipcolor. It ages her so much. A bright pink lip would’ve been so much more youthful and interesting.

Aww give the girl some credits. I actually love the whole vampy look with jade green details. The jewelries are stunning. I like this look. Don’t really care about her age but this is one nicely styled red carpet look. Love love love.

She looked sooo much better on TV. Everything appeared much lighter, and she looked gorgeous. Going by this pic, I would agree with some of the other comments.

Took my breath away…but not in a good way.

    +1 FC completely.

I swear Sarah Hyland thinks she’s 40 years old half the time and 10 years old the other half. She just CAN’T seem to get it right. The hair and makeup is entirely wrong. Her face is young-looking to begin with, so the aging dark lipstick and slicked back hair only look more silly as a result.

The dress is beautiful. I love the lace on the bust.

  17. Moxie September 23, 2013 at 1:09 am #

The dress is nice, but too mature for her. Between the dress and the hair, she is aged about 20+ years.

Love the color and the earrings, everything else is a nightmare. I wish she’d worn Marchesa. Last year was a dream.

I really like the gown (the colour is great) and the jewelry is amazing, but the hair and make-up really age her.

Everything she wears always looks so cheap.

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU!!! OMG exactly what I was thinking!!

  21. Daisy September 23, 2013 at 1:01 am #

    Boring dress!

  22. chocolate September 23, 2013 at 1:01 am #

How old do u think she is? Because I consider this appropriate for someone in her 20s. I mean I can see tay swift wearing it

  23. julyol1972 September 23, 2013 at 12:59 am #

No to everything about this look. Sarah is playing dress up in her grandma’s dress, and looks way too old for someone in their early 20s. Plus, the very dark makeup is doing her no favors. Really hate that lipstick on her with a passion.

    • KatieKate September 23, 2013 at 2:38 am #

Unfortunately, I must agree. Wish she would’ve done a romantic Marchesa gown. Oh well….

I wonder if it isn’t too hard for her to dress her age – because she’s 22 and looks like she’s 12. I don’t blame her for going for mature over young, especially with her baby-face, and I think this really works. It’s dark and dramatic and kind of vampy without being overly-sexual. I really like it.

  25. Christine September 23, 2013 at 12:57 am #

She looks gorgeous. The lipstick is too goth but I like the dress. The styling is nice too.

  26. Prudence September 23, 2013 at 12:54 am #

and she looks 20 years older….as usual.

    • Natalie19 September 24, 2013 at 9:07 pm #

I really wonder, how u can look 10/20 years older with such a baby face??!?!!?

i guess, her major problem is she looks way too young for her age, that’s why she’s trying to wear smth more mature
