NYFW Beauty Recap

Beauty 1

After seven days of high fashion and stunning beauty, we’ve compiled a list of the spring beauty trends from New York Fashion Week that we think celebrities will be rocking on the red carpet soon.

Nails: The ‘Floating Moon’ Mani
Nail art isn’t going anywhere, but it is taking a minimalistic turn for spring. At Milly by Michelle, butterLONDON manicurist Katie Jane Hughes painted just the moon of the fingernails in the shade Cotton Buds and then filled in the rest of the nail with a nude shade.

Eyes: The Rose Gold Smokey Eye
If you don’t know that rose gold is all the rage, then you definitely haven’t been paying attention! And at Jason Wu, the shade was used to create a thoroughly modern smokey eye. Makeup artist Diane Kendal used the shimmery caramel colour from Lancome Color Design Eye Brightening All-in-One 5 Pan Shadow & Liner Palette in Bronze Amour to lay a lovely bronze cat-eye shape base, and then applied rose gold coloured glitter over the top. This would be such a high impact look at the Academy Awards in March!

Lips: Vibrant violet
This past spring and summer, stars had lots of fun with bright pink and even orange lips, and next up, they’ll be experimenting with violet. At Prabal Gurung, makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury created an eye-catching violet lip by mixing M.A.C. Lipmix in white and burgundy for her own custom shade. Emma Rossum loves to play with colour, so I’d love to see her try this out first.

Hair: Sleek Ponytails
It may not be a new trend, but the perfectly sleek ponytail, loved by supermodels and actresses alike, is going to be a huge trend this spring. The look was seen on the runways of designers such as Victoria Beckham, Altuzarra and Jason Wu. At Altuzarra, hairstylist Odile Gilbert began by making a center part and then blow-drying the hair with Kérastase Mousse Bouffante and sealing the ends with Kérastase Fibre Architecte. The hair was then pulled back into a low, sleek ponytail and finished with Kérastase Laque Dentelle.
