Naomi Watts In Marchesa – ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ Venice Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Naomi Watts and her partner Liev Schreiber (in Ermenegildo Zegna) joined Kate Hudson on the red carpet during the 2012 Venice Film Festival for the premiere of ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’, which also served as the Opening Ceremony this evening.

Like Kate, I’m not surprised at Naomi’s choice of designer as Naomi, film festivals and Marchesa seem to go hand in hand.

On this occasion she wore a nude lace overlay gown featuring a bateau neckline, ruffle sleeves, a layered skirt, and a low V-back with tonal ruffle accent from the Resort 2013 collection.

The colour is divine as is her choice of accessories which included a Lanvin two-tone light blue & mustard lacquered ‘Red Passion’ minaudiere, nude peep-toes and gold statement jewels.

Naomi opted for a rich red lip colour instead of nude, which may have been one nude step too far.

The only thing I would change about this look is Naomi’s posture. Such a stunning gown needs more poise.

She looks frumpy and washed out. I love the earrings, though.

    This feel very deja vu…

I thought it was Helen Mirren at a quick glance.

Good to see Grandma’s tablecloth put to good use!

The gown has her name written all over it. It’s very her. I wish it were white. It would a little crisper, though it would probably look bridal, . I suspect the lack of breast support is part of the slouching problem.

I find this really forgettable, it is like a scaled down version of her Canned look earlier this year, and since she always seems to wear some sort of variation of ‘nude’ I don’t think that will change anytime soon.

I love her so I am disappointed. You are correct–her posture is really bringing this look down. The dress is pretty, but I am tired of seeing her in no-color dresses. The earrings are gorgeous and her hair and makeup are lovely, but the dress is nothing special or noteworthy on her.

    i couldn’t be more bored

The dress is very very beautiful and I love her hairstyle and make up. Personally I think that during the red carpet her posture was good, maybe it’s bad only in some photos, but I don’t think that in this one is so bad.

she looks great, i like the classic hollywood glamour vibe of this look.

I wish her posture was better too. I thinks he looks gorgeous though.

can’t help but have a deja vu feeling about this looking. I think we’ve seen a very similar dress recently. Maybe on Kiera Knightley? I dunno. This just bores for some reason. Maybe not the best color choice for her.

I have a deja vu feeling too but for me it feels like I’ve seen her wearing this dress at least five times. BORED

+1 She looks just like a few months ago in Cannes… BOOOOOORING

        • Christine August 29, 2012 at 11:14 pm #

A bit boring but she looks pretty.

This dress is the definition of blah. Next to stunners such as Kate Hudson in Versace and Kasia Smutniak in Valentino this just falls flat.

Another Marchesa gown I do not like at all!

This was one of my absolute FAVORITE gowns from Resort this year, and Naomi’s posture is bringing it down for me. I kind of wish Kate Hudson had worn this gown 🙂 It is is such a beautiful dress, and I like Naomi’s styling–so despite the posture it’s getting a BDOTW nomination from me! 🙂

I can’t help but feel that this dress looks frumpy on Naomi. Her psoture isn’t helping either.

    The earrings are gorgeous

It’s a beautiful dress but there’s nothing really special about it. Maybe she’s just not making it work for me.

She looks perfect from the neck up.

It’s a nice soft feminine gown that goes well with her natural very soft beauty, and I like how she accessorized it – the gold clutch and statement jewels are perfect with this gown just as her soft ‘do and rich red lippie. Yes, the posture could’ve been better to avoid the droopy bust effect.
