Shailene Woodley In Balmain – MTV Movie Awards 2014

Shailene Woodley In Balmain - MTV Movie Awards 2014Shailene Woodley attended the MTV Movie Awards 2014, hosted today (April 13) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California, where she is nominated for Best Kiss for her smooch with Miles Teller in ‘The Spectacular Now.’

Continuing her impressive fashion-girl streak, which really came alive during her ‘Divergent’ promo tour, the actress took an edgier approach in a Balmain Pre-Fall 2014 army-green ensemble featuring a cropped leather tee, knotted high at the waist, and a matching leather, pleated skirt.

The mix of African-safari sensibility and hip-hop flair, prevalent in designer Olivier Rousteing’s collection, was slightly diminished here without the extravagant accessories and embellished waistband seen on the runway.

Still, this little number had plenty of power and panache, especially when paired with black Balmain strappy, statement sandals.

If anything, her gold David Yurman earrings seemed a mere afterthought—a bit refined and quiet for a look such as this. But Shailene knows when enough is enough.

Bella Thorne In Versace – MTV Movie Awards 2014

Bella Thorne In Versace - MTV Movie Awards 2014

Bella Thorne joined her peers on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards 2014 held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday (April 13).

The young star wore a drapey, ice blue Versace cocktail dress with asymmetrical sleeves and rosette detailing.

While Bella has proven herself to be quite the style chameleon, running the fashion gamut on the red carpet, this risk simply did not pay off in my book. It’s just too busy.

Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals and simple jewelry kept things chic and streamlined.

Tousled hair, a pink lip and dress-matching ice blue eyeshadow completed her look.

So what do you think–love it or leave it?

Debby Ryan In Rachel Zoe – MTV Movie Awards 2014

Debby Ryan In Rachel Zoe - MTV Movie Awards 2014

Debby Ryan was one of the first stars down the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards 2014 held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday (April 13).

The Disney star took a sophisticated turn in a black Rachel Zoe jumpsuit from the Pre-Fall 2014 collection.

The ruched detailing and voluminous fabric could have easily overwhelmed the frame, but Debby pulls off the ensemble beautifully.

The tiny cut-out is on-trend and fun, and her long waves are the perfect polished version of the ever-popular messy ‘beach’ hair look.

Debby was wise not to over-accessorize this look–simple Renvi jewelry and Aperlai shoes were the perfect compliment.

Zendaya Coleman In Emanuel Ungaro – MTV Movie Awards 2014

Zendaya Coleman In Emanuel Ungaro - MTV Movie Awards 2014Zendaya Coleman was among the first starlets on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards 2014, as the Disney darling was one of the live pre-show co-hosts for the event today (April 13) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

Taking an Emanuel Ungaro Fall 2014 neon yellow, black and chartreuse frock out for a spin, the young actress flaunted her statuesque frame and towering pins.

Slit to there, the dress wowed with its exuberant, stencil rose print and confident colour, to which Zendaya added a rocker-chic touch with a good dose of sparkling bling in her spiky, embellished Christian Louboutin black ankle-strap pumps, long pendant earrings, Swarovski clutch and stacks of assorted John Hardy rings.

With the stylistic boldness and busyness of the look—and the requisite leg jut—I would have preferred her long tresses coaxed into a sleek little updo, which would have also better complemented her thankfully barely-there makeup.

2013 MTV Movie Awards Menswear Round Up

MTV Mens

We’ve seen Eddie Redmayne, so here are some more dudes who attended the 2013 MTV Movie Awards in LA on Sunday.

Macklemore: The rapper, who performed at this event, stood out on this red carpet. Not just because he opted for an electric-blue slim-fit suit: more likely, he stood out for the OTT gold fringed Logan Neitzel matador-style cape he wore it with. Without the cape this was a BDOTW contender.

Jamie Foxx: Picking up the ‘Best WTF Moment’ award for ‘Candieland Gets Smoked’ in ‘Django Unchained’ and the highest honour, the ‘MTV Generation’ award, Jamie made a touching tribute by honouring the memory of Trayvon Martin with a t-shirt bearing his face with the words “Know Justice, Know Peace”.

2013 MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet Round Up

MTV Movie Awards Ladies

Here is a round-up of the rest of the looks from Sunday night’s 2013 MTV Movie Awards.

Claire Julien: I don’t know who she is either, but according to IMDB she’s an actress who appeared in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Despite her newbie status, the actress was able to snag herself a Christian Dior Spring 2013 frock. The pale-pink satin duchesse and metallic-blue organza one-shoulder mini dress was styled with some yawn-worthy nude peep-toes and a simple updo. The dress deserved better styling.

Crystal Reed: The ‘Teen Wolf’ star opted for a sweet red lace mini dress with a nude tulle skirt. She styled her look with a gold clutch and nude pumps which are so nude they look like a second skin. The only thing I don’t like about this look is her hairdo. It looks like a wrap-and-set before sitting under a dryer.

Quvenzhané Wallis: The Oscar-nominated actress traded in her signature puppy bag for a kitty version to accompany her printed frock and lilac denim jacket. Maybe she made the switch after her good luck charm didn’t bring home the gold at the Oscars.

Brittany Snow: With so many summery frocks on the red carpet, I was surprised to see Brittany select this Lela Rose Fall 2013 navy dress with embellished shoulders which was shortened from the runway and styled with Giuseppe Zanotti metallic pumps. The look is sexy and sophisticated, but I wish she’d opted for more colour. Spring has sprung…let’s embrace it.
