Red Carpet Fashion Awards

LV FROW

The Louis Vuitton Fall 2013 presentation took place in Paris, France this afternoon, with stars wearing pieces from Spring 2013 and Pre-Fall 2013 collections.

Fan Bingbing: The Asian beauty took her front row seat wearing the same black-and-white chequered-flag-print dress we saw on Jessica Alba. I love the retro ‘do and the edge she brings to the look via her leather half gloves. A cream LV bag and stacked peep-toes complete her look. This is the 19th chequered look to hit the red carpet.

Lea Seydoux: The French actress gave us a more interesting look, wearing a black-and-red floral-print look from the Pre-Fall 2013 collection. Her patent black pumps work well on this occasion, with a chic top-handle LV bag and a red-hot pout and plenty of attitude completing her FROW look. You may remember that Michelle Williams wore these same pants recently.

Lily Collins: Looking totally adorable in her gold-and-black Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2013 dress with a black pointy collar, the actress styled her look with a lusty worthy LV top-handle bag, a top-knot and black pumps.

Naomi Watts: After wearing a selection of high-glamour looks during awards season, Naomi scaled things back this morning by wearing a simple white shift dress from the Spring 2013 collection with a white coat. I love the mint-green tote, but I dislike the black pumps with a passion with this look.

Black and White Celebrity Trend

What’s black and white and seated front row at Paris fashion week?

Celebs, of course.

One of the major trends which reigned supreme at the Spring 2013 shows was black and white, ranging from mod 60s looks at Prada and Louis Vuitton, stripes at Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Kors, and classic pieces at Chanel, Ralph Lauren and Saint Laurent, with Alexander Wang, Balmain, Narciso Rodriguez, Victoria Beckham, Jil Sander, and Moschino also sending solid, patterned or striped black-and-white looks down the runway.

The celebs who have championed this trend this week were Nicole Richie, who attended both the Stella McCartney and Givenchy shows in black and white, and Jessica Alba, who also rocked the trend at Stella McCartney and Valentino.

Black and White Celebrity Trend2

Chanel’s front row is one place we shouldn’t be surprised to see celebs showcasing this Spring 2013 trend. The elegant Jessica Chastain wore a white ruffled blouse with a pencil skirt, while Milla Jovovich rocked a masculine black-and-white pant look.

Usually one to start trends, Anna Dello Russo also took to the front row at Chanel wearing a playful black-and-white look, which would’ve been better suited to Elle Fanning, methinks.

The best thing about this trend is that it’s easy to wear and affordable. You can rock it with the simplest staples, like vest tops, tees, skirts, pants and dresses.

Stripes might be the hardest look to rock; take it too far and you could end up looking like you are wearing prison stripes.

Dior Front Row 1

A group of bold-named beauties held court at Christian Dior’s Fall 2013 presentation to see Raf Simons’ arty collection in Paris on Friday afternoon. While none were as dramatically dressed as fellow show-goer Ulyana Sergeenko, they still impressed with top-to-toe looks from the designer.

Marion Cotillard: The French actress played it safe in a simple black coat worn over a monochrome dress and paired with black tights and pointy stilettos. The one perk that kept this look interesting to me; the adorable over-the-shoulder box handbag.

Olivia Palermo: Stepping out in a dress from Dior’s Spring 2013 collection, Olivia worked the stripes and the fringe to her advantage. She kept warm with a black overcoat that featured yet another trend: fur. I loved her bright matte red lip and the flash of patent lavender on her shoe.

Anna Dello Russo: Always willing to break the style rule book, Vogue Japan’s editor-at-large was the only one who eschewed Dior. Instead, she took fur to the max in her Fendi number, ripped right off the Fall 2013 runway. The result? An interesting mix of primitive and punk with a techno edge. Her fuzzy clutch was just as “hair”-raising.

Ulyana Sergeenko In Chrisitian Dior Couture - Christian Dior Fall 2013 Presentation

Street style favourite and fashion designer Ulyana Sergeenko, was spotted in Paris en route to the Christian Dior Fall 2013 presentation this afternoon.

Unlike many of the celebrities in the front row, Ulyana is one of those rare people who actually buys Couture.

The Russian beauty donned a black cashmere top with a voluminous blue floral skirt both from the Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture collection.

Keeping the dramatic nature of her looking going she added a black floral appliqué veiled fascinator.

While you might consider this a tad overdramatic to sit front row at a fashion show, this is probably a normal day time appropriate look for her.

Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake In Tom Ford - Tom Ford Fall 2013 PresentationThere was plenty to love about the Tom Ford Fall 2013 presentation on Monday during London Fashion Week—and just as much to applaud in the show’s stare-worthy guests, such as “it” couple Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake.

The actress worked to her advantage a super-sleek and structured, all-black statement from Tom Ford’s Spring 2013 collection. It could have translated as boring on some, but seemingly not on Jessica.

The deep V-neck of the top was daring without crossing into distasteful territory, while the prim cut of the skirt was vamped up with a sultry sheen. Even a rather ubiquitous pair of strappy, peep-toe sandals worked well here.

The blunt bang and swept-back updo, and the minimal accessories, made this look all the more cool and classic with a modern edge.

Justin may have been outshone by his better half, but he held his own in a Tom Ford charcoal grey windowpane suit, paired with a black tie and black patent shoes. I found myself wishing the tie was a touch skinnier to add a more trendy flair.

Burberry Fall 2013 Front Row

As is customary, quite the coterie of starlets stylishly resided on Burberry Prorsum’s front row to see just what Christopher Bailey had in store for Fall 2013; a collection he titled “Trench Kisses, A Collection of Classics and Christine Keeler.” While it was hard to compete with the designer’s gorgeous runway heroines, many of these cool-girl guests rocked their Burberry best at London’s Kensington Gardens on Monday afternoon and gave the models a good run.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: The British model and actress broke out a sleek coral-red pantsuit for her front-row seat at the show. Was it mannish? Yes. But with the slim fit and the impeccable tailoring, no to mention Rosie’s voluminous waves, she looked like she just stepped off the runway herself.

Freida Pinto: Opting for a cooler palette of jewel tones, the actress wore a dark sapphire corset and emerald green trouser from Burberry Prorsum’s colour-saturated Spring 2013 collection. Instead of the cropped biker jacket originally featured on the catwalk, Freida added a black sash detail to the peplum waist of the top. Without any accessories on this look, I would have at least liked to see the added zest of the runway’s golden yellow shoe. But she played off the black with her peep-toe wedge.

Rita Ora: We can always count on this British songstress to pump up the volume with her chameleon-like style. Here, she also went for a menswear-inspired statement with a navy suit that kept an edge with its ’80s slouch and rolled-up sleeves, paired back to stacks of colourful bangles, a “foxy” chain necklace and a T-shirt that playfully illustrated Rita’s new British BFF and model of the moment, “Queen” Cara Delevingne. The white version of those peep-toe wedges also made an appearance, as did a modernized bouffant-style ‘do.
