Masami Nagasawa In Chloé – 4th Beijing Film Festival

Masami Nagasawa In Chloé - 4th Beijing Film Festival

Masami Nagasawa took to the red carpet for the 4th Beijing International Film Festival held at China’s National Grand Theatre on Wednesday (April 16) in Beijing, China.

The Japanese actress opted not to wear a gown as expected; instead she marched to the beat of her own drum, wearing a Chloé Spring 2014 black spaghetti-strap handkerchief-hem frock with metallic embroidery and a gold-brass chain trim.

She complemented the look with gold Christian Louboutin ‘Valnina’ glitter-finished and leather sandals and opted for minimal, if any, makeup.

Was this look too muted for a film festival, or does this come as a refreshing change of pace?

Zhang Ziyi In Zuhair Murad Couture – 4th Beijing Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Zhang Ziyi In Zuhair Murad Couture - 4th Beijing Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Zhang Ziyi took to the stage for the opening ceremony of the 4th Beijing International Film Festival held at China’s National Grand Theatre on Wednesday (April 16) in Beijing, China.

Changing out of her Elie Saab red carpet jumpsuit, the actress outdid herself, wearing a stunning Zuhair Murad Spring 2014 Couture gown.

This was my favourite couture show of the season, and I’m delighted to see so many pieces making their way off the runway and onto the red carpet.

Ziyi looked radiant in her long-sleeved fully beaded gold gown featuring a long train.

Some may be suffering a tinge of disappointment that this beauty wasn’t worn on the red carpet, but I’m just grateful that I can’t see what shoes she’s wearing under this gown.

Of the two looks, which do you prefer: this glamorous, somewhat expected gown or the sleek Elie Saab jumpsuit?

Song Hye Kyo served up a different kind of elegance on the red carpet for the 4th Beijing International Film Festival held at China’s National Grand Theatre on Wednesday (April 16) in Beijing, China.

Dark romance was her M.O., wearing a quietly dramatic Jenny Packham Fall 2013 off-the-shoulder black gown accented with a grosgrain waistband.

Modernizing the look with a wraparound gold cuff, she also added gold earrings, which were perfectly showcased due to her elegant updo.

You may remember that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wore this same gown to the 100 Women Hedge Funds Gala late last year.

Fan Bingbing In Zhang Shuai – 4th Beijing Film Festival

Fan Bingbing In Zhang Shuai - 4th Beijing Film Festival

Fan Bingbing wore a second look during the 4th Beijing International Film Festival held at China’s National Grand Theatre on Wednesday (April 16) in Beijing, China.

Perhaps one was for the opening ceremony and one for a premiere (no confirmation on Getty); however, this Zhang Shuai (blatant Lanvin copied) aqua-blue one-shoulder gown with a ruffled trim is much more like it.

It’s unpredictable, it’s not a princess gown, it’s not embellished and I love this colour against her pale skin.

Another Louis Vuitton clutch completed her look.

Was two looks for this event excessive or do you perceive this to be typical Bingbing behaviour; overdoing it? This is the same lady who wore three gown on Oscar night back in 2013.

You may remember that Rooney Mara wore a white Lanvin gown that this look has been copied from.

Fan Bingbing In Elie Saab Couture - 4th Beijing Film Festival

Fan Bingbing and actor Huang Xiaoming took to the red carpet this evening for the 4th Beijing International Film Festival at China’s National Grand Theatre on Wednesday (April 16) in Beijing, China.

No prizes for guessing that the actress wore an Elie Saab Couture gown.

Frankly, as beautiful as it is, it’s tired. Played out beyond belief.

I almost feel like she’s worn this gown before. It’s like there is no thought process or effort. Just picking the most sparkling piece off the rack.

Thankfully, Xiaoming and his floral-print blazer are in this shot to keep me interested.

A Louis Vuitton clutch and tousled waves completed her look.
