Front Row @ NYFW Weekend Catch Up

Here’s a quick catch up of the front row who caught my eye during New York Fashion Week this weekend.

Ciara @ Prabal Gurung: The singer wore a pretty Prabal Gurung embroidered angular insert dress with a flared silhouette styled with bondage boots courtesy of Casadei, which were presented during the designer’s Fall 2013 collection.

Solange Knowles @ Alexander Wang: What’s not to love about Solange’s outfit? The colour, the quirky glasses, the Wang Resort 2014 skirt, that bag and those sexy sandals…? Perhaps it shouldn’t, but it ALL works.

Rihanna @ Opening Ceremony: It’s been a while since we saw Rihanna front row at NYFW, as she tends to skip the shows and head to the after-parties. On Sunday she was front and centre at Opening Ceremony wearing a grey Zac Posen satin floral dress with Underground ‘Wulfrun’ creepers with a Lynn Ban choker. A part of me wants to say it’s ridiculous to pair such a pretty dress with creepers, but I have to say she sells it to me, as per.

ZAC Zac Posen: The second I saw this luxe ivory gown with a deep v-back and body-contouring seams, the first person to come to mind was Amber Heard. While I’m very intrigued about how the front looks, I know she would work that back even better than the model.

Honor: This clashing-print ensemble featuring a pointy-collared blouse and fitted skirt has only one destination – Solange Knowles’ closet.

Gia Coppola's Weekend At Venice Film Festival

Gia Coppola took to the red carpet several times over the weekend attending events during the 2013 Venice Film Festival.

Art of Elysium’s ‘Child of God’ and ‘Palo Alto’ event: On Saturday the writer-director kick-started proceedings wearing an off-the-shoulder Christopher Kane Fall 2013 black velvet loop-tape dress featuring a nude lining we didn’t see on the runway. Black sandals and a black clutch with gold hardware completed her look.

‘Palo Alto’ photocall: The following day Gia opted for a head-to-toe Proenza Schouler look, selecting a black-and-white zigzag tweed dress with a small keyhole detail paired with black python pumps, both from the Resort 2014 collection. While the first look was sexy, this one has a youthful vibe. It’s interesting how she’s opted for two edgy designers, yet selected easy-to-wear pieces.

‘Palo Alto’ premiere: For the premiere on Sunday evening Gia couldn’t have looked more like her aunt Sofia, wearing a classic suit by Saint Laurent styled with a white blouse and black bow tie, keeping the makeup fresh and neutral for her borrowed-from-the-boys look.

Vanity Fair 10th Anniversary Celebrations: For her after-dark look, Gia wore a sexy Zac Posen strapless frock with a below-the-knee trumpet hemline and geometric folded detail at the bodice. Still opting for makeup in a neutral colour palette, she once again opted for black accessories, this time wearing black sandals and a satin clutch. You may remember that Naya Rivera wore this same dress back in April.

Of all these looks, the Saint Laurent is my favourite. I feel like this is more her style. The Zac Posen was my second favourite for pure sex appeal – something Zac Posen is a master at.

Crystal Reed In ZAC Zac Posen Resort – 2013 MTV Video Music Awards #VMAs

Crystal Reed also left the over-the-top irreverence in the closet, as she posed at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday.

The ‘Teen Wolf’ actress put the red in this red carpet with a sculpted, strapless ZAC Zac Posen Resort 2014 peplum gown that was nothing if not plenty glamorous, especially with her slicked-back ’do and dainty Neil Lane jewels.

Adding a slightly more raucous note was a spirited crimson leopard-print Valentino clutch. Even so, Crystal couldn’t steal all the thunder from co-star Holland Roden’s daring, dynamite entrance.

Do you prefer this starlet-in-red’s sophisticated statement, or is it too one-note for the VMAs?

X Factor LA

The X Factor LA Auditions took place on Wednesday afternoon with all eyes on the three female judges.

Paulina Rubio: The singer opted for a Zac Posen satin dress styled with leather gloves and House of Harlow sunglasses. I can’t say I’m surprised that I don’t really like the look. The dress is cute but slightly OTT, and the styling is just terrible.

Demi Lovato: Sporting a braided updo, the singer wore a paisley-print Isabel Marant dress accented with a black leather belt and styled with black ankle-strap Schutz shoes. I want to like this look, but I find it ages Demi quite drastically. You may remember that Maggie Gyllenhaal wore the same dress back in April.

Kelly Rowland: Adding some youth and vitality to this troop, the singer wore a Wayne Pre-Fall laser-cut white top and mini skirt, which she styled with Christian Louboutin ‘Daf Geek’ booties.

You can buy Paulina’s Zac Posen dress from Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.

Gabrielle Union In Zac Posen - 2013 BET Awards

Gabrielle Union surprised me by not wearing a gown on the red carpet at the 2013 BET Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California on Sunday evening.

The ‘Think Like a Man’ actress donned a Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2013 red strapless cocktail dress with contouring details to give her a minuscule waist.

With her hair side-parted and tumbling down her back, she selected drop earrings, several rings and a pair of black platform sandals to complete her look.

The dress is stunning, but the styling is uninspiring.
