Red Carpet Fashion Awards

BAFTA Men

Keeping it classic with black tuxedos and bow ties was prevalent on the red carpet at the EE British Academy Film Awards in London on Sunday. But a handful of biggest stars took a chance with navy colours and velvet fabrics. The risks paid off – for the most part.

Ben Affleck: In addition to taking home the award for Best Director, Bendefinitely took home the award for best male grooming. That dark beard looked amazing with his Gucci Made-to-Order midnight blue velvet Marseille tuxedo. His tux displayed two buttons and notch lapels. Along with his tux, Ben wore a skinny collared white shirt, a matching flat tie in a four-in-hand knot, and black leather lace ups.

Bradley Cooper: Everything below the neck looked incredible on the star of ‘Silver Linings Playbook.’ Wearing a Ferragamo midnight navy three-piece tux with black satin peak lapels, Bradley looked every bit the part of a Best Actor nominee. He even paired it with a bow tie that he needs to straighten out. Unfortunately, it looks like the rain got to him and his hair looks a bit sloppy, considering he’s wearing a tux.

Chris Tucker: If there was one man on the red carpet that ruined his look with the little things, it was Chris Tucker. The navy colour looks great, but he went from looking like a stud to looking like a stooge thanks to his accents. Chris is great, funny actor, but it takes a specific type of confidence and power to pull off lapels that wide – Chris doesn’t have it. And that droopy, oversized bow tie isn’t helping matters.

Cinema For Peace Gala 2013

Charlize Theron was elegance personified on the red carpet for the 2013 Cinema For Peace Gala, held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Germany on Saturday night which took place during the 2013 Berlinale Film Festival.

Surprisingly, the actress wasn’t wearing Dior; instead she selected a grey satin Gucci strapless gown, which featured a gathered embellished detail at the waist.

I love the slicked-back do. I think I would’ve lacked the confidence to rock such a short hairstyle in such a chic way.

I’m also obsessed with her deep rouge lip. It was overplayed during the summer, but it adds a wicked touch to her sultry look on this occasion.

Tiffany & Co. jewels, Jimmy Choo ‘Fayme’ sandals and a silver Jimmy Choo clutch provided the finishing touches

Ko Chen-Tung In Gucci - ‘Together’ Beijing Premiere

Some suits are so loud and obnoxious that the men wearing them seem like lowly attention seekers. But some men can exude confidence in a way that makes wearing such a suit possible. Ko Chen-Tung is one of those men.

Chen-Tung attended the Beijing premiere of his new film ‘Together’ on Monday wearing this Gucci Spring 2013 charcoal-and-yellow striped suit alongside co-star Angelababy

With his slim-fit, double-breasted number, the actor seems to be wearing the same Gucci loafers as the runway model.

If menswear didn’t take risks, we would see black, gray and navy everywhere.

Wearing this was a brave act, and who better to try it than one of Taiwan’s hottest young actor/singers?

Topped off with mahogany-coloured buttons, peak lapels, and a wisely buttoned-up shirt, this look hovers on the right side of the line between eccentric and crazy. This getup certainly puts Chen-Tung on the map and I applaud him for it.

Chen-Tung can do strait laced. Back in November, he attended the opening of a new Gucci store in Taipei, Taiwan wearing a much more conservative Gucci navy windowpane suit.

Ferige In Gucci - ‘Safe Haven’ LA Premiere

Fergie hit the red carpet at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California on Tuesday evening to support hubby, Josh Duhamel, and his co-star, Julianne Hough, for the LA premiere of their latest movie, ‘Safe Haven’.

The singer wore a Gucci Resort 2013 dress.

Her black silk shift dress, with black-and-gold three-dimensional floral embroidery, was styled with a matching Alexander McQueen skull knuckle clutch and simple black sandals.

Fergie made the smart move of wearing her hair up, but the black clip was one accessory too many.

It’s been a while since I liked a Fergie look from head-to-toe.

Nieves Alvarez In David Delfin - Solo Moda

Nieves Alvarez’s M.O. for Sola Moda this season appears to be sticking to one designer during the show.

On Saturday, she exclusively wore pieces from David Delfin’s Spring 2013 collection.

First up was a white sheath dress decorated with multi-coloured crystals, which she styled with bi-colour Christian Louboutin Arnoeud ankle boots with a cute bow accent. I love the pieces separately, but not together as the boots feel too weighty against the dress.

As you know, I love jumpsuits, but I’m not sure this David Delfin piece is something I would wear. Alvarez, on the other hand, is working the hell out of this biker-inspired piece with multiple zippers. I also love her embellished Louboutins with this look.

Christian Louboutin ‘Summerissima’ sandals were perfectly colour co-ordinated to her David Delfin red-and-white trompe l’oeil dress.

2nd Annual AACTA Awards Red Carpet Round Up

There were plenty more divine ladies besides Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman who took to the red carpet on Wednesday evening for the 2nd Annual AACTA Awards, held at The Star in Sydney, Australia.

Jessica Mauboy: The singer/actress picked up her first AACTA Award – Best Supporting Actress for her role in ‘Sapphires’ – wearing a breathtaking Steven Khalil red gown. This is not the first time I have been wowed by the Australian designer, who is also loved by actress Kate Ritchie.

Gracie Otto: This is the second run out for this Gucci Spring 2013 saffron-yellow gown, as Bipasha Basu wore this gown on Monday. Gracie had the good sense to kept this look minimal and not overwhelm it with unnecessary jewels, styling the look with a clear Gucci clutch from the same collection.

Essie Davis: The actress certainly knows how to make an entrance. She was simply captivating wearing a red Leah Da Gloria floor-sweeping gown with a slashed neckline and lace panels on the three-quarter-length sleeves. The three red gowns ruled this red carpet: Cate, Jessica and Essie.
