Samantha Barks In Christian Dior - ‘Le Passe’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Samantha Barks glided down the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals for the premiere of ‘Le Passé’ during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival in France this evening.

The ‘Les Mis’ actress wore a Christian Dior Spring 2013 look.

Sticking to her favoured all-black, Sam’s skirt, which was styled with a cashmere sweater, is considerably longer to the just-above-the ankle length versions we saw on the runway, giving a more glamorous feel to her look.

Inspired by the runway styling, Sam wore her hair back in a tight bun with a pop of colour coming via her lips.

As she took to the steps, you could see her black Dior pumps with a gold cuff completing her look.

I think I might be coming down with something, as the minimalistic trend is really winning me over this year.

'The Bling Ring' Premiere - The 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival

It was very much a girls’ night out as Emma Watson and her ‘The Bling Ring’ co-stars took to the red carpet tonight for the movie’s premiere during Cannes Film Festival.

Claire Julien: Having stepped out in Balmain earlier today, the blonde actress selected a blush-coloured Emilio Pucci gown which was custom made for her. The strapless gown with sheer inserts and an epic organza train was styled with a gorgeous smile and natural golden waves.

Taissa Farmiga: For her second Cannes look, the actress wore a Valentino Fall 2013 gown, a privilege many more established actresses are yet to enjoy. Her sleeveless black gown with an off-white lace bodice with leather insets at the sides features a tonal lattice beaded embellishment throughout. Side swept tresses and diamond drop earrings completed her look.

Katie Chang: The young actress had the honour of being dressed in Dior tonight. The brand are really staking their claim on this festival this year. Katie wore a Dior white silk crepe gown with a black sash which she styled with Dior Fine Jewelry.

They may be relative unknown celebrities to us, but it looks like fashion brands are taking notice, which is to be applauded.

Carey Mulligan In Christian Dior Couture - ‘The Great Gatsby’ Premiere & Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Carey Mulligan, the star of ‘The Great Gatsby’, finally took her place on the red carpet this evening for the Cannes Film Festival premiere.

The British star surprised me by finally applying a touch of lippie, in a bold red hue. She also surprised me with the length of her hair. I had assumed it was much shorter; however, she has been concealing the length in a bun and updos for the last few red carpet appearances.

I’m guessing she had to apply the red lip colour in order to prevent her being washed out by her blush matte satin duchesse Dior Couture gown.

The fit and the streamline silhouette leave me in awe. As you know, I’m more likely to get excited by a bling gown on the red carpet, but this minimalist gown hits another fashion home run for the talented actress.

Julianne Moore In Christian Dior Couture - ‘The Great Gatsby’ Premiere & Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Julianne Moore is the third star to take to the red carpet at ‘The Great Gatsby’ Cannes Film Festival premiere, which also serves as the Opening Ceremony, this evening wearing a Dior Couture look.

Regular readers know that we don’t usually see this many Dior gowns during the whole festival let along the first night.

While I loved both Nicole Kidman and Zhang Ziyi’s Dior looks, this one falls a bit flat.

I wasn’t too crazy about it on the runway, so adding a train to the organza skirt wasn’t going to change that feeling.

Had the bodice been bedazzled, maybe I would remember this look at the end of the night.

Chopard jewels and silver sandals (which I do love) completed her look.

Nicole Kidman In Christian Dior - ‘The Great Gatsby’ Premiere & Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Giving us our second look within a few hours, Nicole Kidman was a vision of total perfection this evening at ‘The Great Gatsby’ Cannes Film Festival premiere, which also serves as the Opening Ceremony.

Wearing Dior, the Australia actress selected a look from the Spring 2013 Couture collection which I’m certain ranked highly on many of your wish lists.

The strapless floral embroidered creation was styled with a coral pair of Dior which beautifully offset the blossoms in her frock.

A high ponytail, Ferragamo clutch and a rouge lip colour completed her look.

She is easily one of my favourites tonight.

Zhang Ziyi In Christian Dior Couture - ‘The Great Gatsby’ Premiere & Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Zhang Ziyi used the ‘The Great Gatsby’ Cannes Film Festival premiere, which also serves as the Opening Ceremony this evening, to showcase a new ‘do. Thankfully it wasn’t blonde.

The Asian actress sported a crop pixie cut on the red carpet while wearing a look from the Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture collection.

Shunning the usually required gown, Zhang’s edgy new ‘do works perfectly with her navy and fuchsia pink-accented strapless top paired with black pants.

I’m not sure the gold metal waistband was required but it doesn’t take anything away from the look.

A navy satin clutch and Christian Louboutin ‘Pivichic’ pumps completed her look.

Yay nor nay on the new ‘do?
