2008 Glamour Women Of The Year Awards

Every morning when I am looking at the pictures of events from the previous night, I am always looking to say wow. I had two moment like that today, and the first was Nicole Kidman.

I am not sure you will all love the ice queen in her stunning spaghetti strapped L’Wren Scott Spring 2009 ice white gown, with jeweled detail on the empire-waist, but I absolutely adore her here.

She is so statuesque, regal even. I came imagine jaws were dropping all night.

Along with Ali Larter, Nicole is up for Best Dressed this week.

And if you think the front is amazing, look at the detail on the back.

Kate Bosworth did not opt for a stunning gown, but the affects are just the same.

Her black tuxedo-style Chanel dress with a white bib, was amazing and sophisticated enough for her stand on the same red carpet as Nicole Kidman.

I do not think there has ever been a time when I was not impressed with Natalie Portman.

She appears to be a quiet shy retiring type, but girlfriend knows how to master the red carpet, and she did so again, wearing a black Jolibe Fall 2008 dress with a sequined panel going down the front, and folds on the skirt.

She completed her look with a pair of pom pom shoes, which she also owns in purple.

There was a time when America Ferrera would wear nothing but black. Thank god those days appear to be over as the Ugly Betty actress took to the red carpet last night wearing a multi-coloured sleeved Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2008 embroidered dress.

Love the dress, not so crazy about the Amy Wino hair ‘do, which she has sported before.

Sarah Michelle Gellar opted against her bangs, which she sported last week in favour of a messy up ‘do.

Like many women at this event she opted for a white dress. This dress was by Vicente Villarin Spring 2009

The beaded detail on Selita Ebanks’ dress is the most interesting detail on her grey gown with a black overlay.

I love the way she constantly adapts her crop. I wish I had the guts to go for the chop.

What is up with young Hollywood?

Taylor Swift should be trying to give people like Natalie Portman a run for her money, but instead she opts for a long, plain, boring black gown.

Taylor is usually very impressive on the red carpet so I am a touch, sorry very disappointed in this effort.

When she rocks, she rocks, and Fergie rock it last night.

The singer arrived looking sweet and innocent wearing an amazing white Michael Kors gown, with a jeweled bodice. Can’t wait to see this girls wedding gown.

You may have noticed that Fergie has put on a bit of weight. The singer put on 13 pounds to play a character named Saraghina in the upcoming movie musical Nine.

Debra Messing is not often on the red carpet, and she rarely gets it wrong. On this occasion, I think she did, as this Ralph Lauren Fall 2008 dress does anything for her at all.

Despite it being just a black dress by Gucci, I do like it on Tyra Banks as for once she is toned down and not over the top.

This is not my favourite look for Jane Krakowski. I think it is her hair, because her strapless Philosophy Di Alberta Ferretti satin bustier dress is a gorgeous berry colour.

Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet & Parties Round Up

“Wendy and Lucy” Premiere

Michelle Williams looked stunning on her first appearance on the red carpet since Heath Ledger death.

The actress has been laying low for a while, but made a spectacular reappearance, radiating in this ivory asymmetric tiered Chanel Haute Couture lace dress, with feathered Manolo Blahnik sandals.

“Palermo Shooting” Premiere

It is great to see Kerry Washington back on the red carpet again. She looks amazing in this eggplant plunge-neck Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2005 Couture gown with a train.

I also love her hair. Very elegant.

Milla Jovovich is wearing a Armani PrivÃ© Spring 2008 dove grey strapless gown, with silver strappy sandals and a jeweled headband.

“Synecdoche, New York” Premiere

I am glad Kerry Washington has opted to wear her hair longer, as I feel it suit her better than the short ‘do she was sporting for a while.

This black Oscar de la Renta Fall 2008 gown with gold embroidery is stunning, but it is not quite as beautiful as the yellow Oscar de la Renta gown she wore last year, to her I Think I Love My Wife LA premiere.

Wearing a strapless purple-tiered gown with a black velvet bow, Michelle Williams joins co-stars Catherine Keener and Samantha Morton to the premiere of their new movie.

Dolce & Gabbana Party

Lindsay Lohan is only at Cannes to party, as she obviously has nothing to promote, and I am pleasantly surprised at how well dressed she is for a nice change.

Lindsay wears her green embellished very mini Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2007 dress is, with gold strappy sandals.

Margherita Missoni takes a night off wearing her family’s designs, to wear a hand-painted Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2008 organza dress.

Kate Hudson keeps it simple in this Dolce & Gabbana Resort 2008 white mini dress, which is embellished with jewels.

Naomi Campbell arrived the party with hosts Stefan Gabbana and Domenico Dolce.

The fiery supermodel wore a stunning silver Dolce & Gabbana baby-doll dress, with matching silver shoes.

Carine Roitfeld’s love affair with the Balmain Fall 2008 collection continues, and when she looks this hot, why should she stop?

This is also not the first time the Editor of French Vogue has worn this dress. She also recently wore it to a Miu Miu party.

Kerry Washington wears a sexy off-the-shoulder fringed D&G Spring 2008 gold mini dress, which she accessorizes with a black clutch and bronze heels.

Svetlana Metkina, is also bitten by the Balmain bug. This is the second time the Russian actress has worn a Balmain Spring 2008 dress at Cannes.

She wears her dress with the same Balmain gladiator heels that Gwyneth Paltrow wore this week.

This Versace Spring 2008 turquoise halter-neck gown Milla Jovovich is wearing is not really doing it for me.

The stunning actress is too fierce for this.

Natalie Portman arrives wearing a LBD from the Balmain Fall 2008 collection, a Lanvin silver sequined bolero jacket, purple pom pom shoes and a Chanel satin bow bag.

With the large Dolce & Gabbana ball gown Rose McGowan wore earlier this week, it was hard to notice the cast on her foot.

That gown was a hard act to follow, but Rose wears this lace mini dress well, considering what she has going against her.

Dita von Teese was surprisingly the only one to wearing the classic Dolce & Gabbana corset dress.

amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS 2008 – Cannes Film Festival

Finally someone had the cahones to wear the Dolce & Gabbana organza fantasy ball gowns.

I was hoping that Sarah Jessica Parker would have worn the green one to the Sex And The City New York Premiere next week, but I will have to make do with Rose Mcgowan.

She totally rocked this stunning gown. It is just a beautiful as I imagined it off the runway.

French Vogue Editor-in-Chief Carine Roitfeld and her daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfeld leave me breathless in their stunning dresses.

Carine is wearing a red hot one-shouldered animal print Balmain Fall 2008 dress with a slit to the thigh and metallic detailing on the hip.

Julia also wears a dress from the Balmain Fall 2008 collection.

Her dress is equally as sexy as her mothers, but shorter. Her black dress is also one-shouldered, with lace detail at the hem and on the hip. She also wore her beloved black YSL tribute platform sandals, which she also wore yesterday.

Natalie Portman has obviously gotten wind of the fact that many people – not me – were tiring of her wearing Lanvin, so she opted for this beautifully structured Givenchy Spring 2008 Couture dress.

She needs to be careful not to cut herself on those spikes.

Model Natalia Vodianova wore a gold strapless Valentino Spring 2008 Couture gown with a tiered embellished skirt.

Elsa Pataki wears the same Alberta Ferretti dress which Bar Refaeli wore last Wednesday last week.

What a faux pa.

There is no greater ambassador for Marchesa than the designer Georgina Chapman.

Tonight she arrived in this very dramatic silk tulle Marchesa Spring 2008 ball gown with gold embroidered leaf appliqué.

She wore her dress with Christian Louboutin Coxinelle T-bar pumps.

STUNNING.

Petra Nemcova also wore a Marchesa Spring 2008 gown.

Her white strapless gown was much less dramatic, but equally as beautiful.

Couture Queen Dita von Teese is exquisite in this violet Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2007 Couture chiffon military-esqe gown.

The dress has badges of honour as embellishments and beaded epaulets.

Oh so cute.

Margherita Missoni looks stunning with her hair tied back, in this sweetheart neck-lined Missoni Spring 2008 strapless multi-coloured printed gown.

I love this coral coloured strapless Marchesa gown on Mary J. Blige. She is not afraid of colour, and it shows.

The embroidery on the gown is outstanding.

Joely Richardson shows off her lean figure in this stripey Ralph Lauren Spring 2008 gown, with long satin opera gloves for added dramatic effect.

Tamara Mellon usually sticks to black white and navy, so I am glad during Cannes she is wearing more colours.

This strapless bandeau dress is from the Balmain Spring 2008 collection, and is ultra feminine. I really love the wing embroidered detail.

Michelle Yeoh is wearing this very summery Roberto Cavalli Fall 2008 A-line dress with flowered embroidery.

You wouldn’t expect a dress like this to be part of a Fall collection.

Donatella Versace is stunning as ever in her own designs. The colour is gorgeous and dress fits like a glove.

This dress has the same lattice detail we have seen on a few other dresses, during this Film Festival.

Sharon Stone LOVES animal print. On most occasions she looks tacky, but not tonight.

For once she works it well. The jeweled detail on his halter-neck Roberto Cavalli dress is what I think stops it from heading down to tackyville.

Madonna is much less dramatic tonight in her coral satin pussy-bow dress with nude heels.

The pussy-bow dress is a preview of what we will see during on Stella McCartney’s Spring 2009 runway. Yes 4 months from now.

Now that is what you call star power.

Actress Aissa Maiga is wearing this Christian Dior Fall 2007 hip embellished dress, which despite being a few seasons old it looks like it’s from a recent Spring collection in white.

Not many have dared to wear the crazy designs from Marc Jacobs Louis Vuitton Spring 2008 collection.

Milla Jovovich dared to, and looks fabulous.

Coral appears to be the colour of the night.

Diane Kruger is simple elegant in her 20s inspired silver embroidered Chanel Haute Couture gown with her marcel waves.

I love how she is holding her delicate train.

Eva Herzigova opted for a simple black strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown, which covered up a lot more than the Dior dress she wore yesterday.

Very plain for Juliette Lewis.

This is the best dress I have seen Star Jones wear during Cannes. The embroidery and the feathered hem are delightful.

Cannes Film Festival – Che Premiere

It is official Ladies Love Lanvin.

French Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Carine Roitfeld joins the growing list of ladies wearing Lanvin this week.

Carine wore the stunning Lanvin Spring 2008 gown which appeared in the print advertising campaign for the fashion house.

If I could own one piece from the Lanvin Spring 2008 collection, this would be my choice, and I would wear it as Carine wore it, with the wide waist belt.

Carine is STUNNING in this dress. I can not gush enough.

Carine’s daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, stuck to her usual rock n’ roll style wearing this cut-out black sheer dress, with a wide belt and YSL tribute platform sandals.

Naomi Campbell is a beautiful woman, but I have 3 pieces of advice for her:

1. No-Lye relaxer
2. Bangs
3. Wig

Otherwise she will be bald by the time she is 40.

Apart from her hairline issues, Naomi Campbell looks stunning in this white haltered Dolce & Gabbana sequined embellished gown.

Eva Herzigova bravely lets it all hang out in this sheer Christian Dior Spring 2008 gown with lace appliquÃ©. Under her gown she wears a black corset and big pants ala Bridget Jones.

She decorates her neck with a V shaped ornament.

Natalie Portman is the woman who has been leading the charge for Lanvin.

Here she is wearing her 4th piece from the Lanvin Spring 2008 collection.

This orange strapless sweetheart neckline dress is tiered with ruffles.

Michelle Yeoh wore a turquoise Roberto Cavalli gown with a violet rose print at the hem.

Catalina Sandino Moreno wore a lilac haltered Alberta Ferretti gown, with feathers cascading down the skirt.

Cannes Film Festival – Monday Round Up

“Two Lovers” Premiere

The Chanel Resort 2009 collection was only 5 days ago and Gwyneth Paltrow is already wearing it on the red carpet.

With her stunning jewels, Gwyneth wore this midnight blue plunge-neck satin gown with black trim and bow detail.

“Wild Blood” Premiere

I would have loved this dress on Monica Bellucci had it been all white.

“Le Silence de Lorna” Premiere

British actress Kristin Scott Thomas is wearing a royal blue Lanvin Spring 2008 trapeze cut Grecian goddess gown with horsehair hem .

This dress is truly magnificent and on the runway the dress billowed into a mushroom-cloud dress . A true work of art. Lanvin Spring 2008 was one of my favourite collections.

Natalie Portman also wears a Lanvin Spring 2008 cobalt blue silken tiered ruffle cocktail dress .

Although this dress did not appear on the runway, it is distinctively Lanvin in the colour, shape and ruffles.

Chopard Party

Gwyneth Paltrow is also wearing Lanvin Spring 2008. This time it is a ice white asymmetric dress, which she teams with another pair of stunning gladiator heels by Balmain.

Christina Ricci is uber sexy in this slinky black Bottega Veneta Fall 2008 strapless gown. I love the shape she is making whilst posing in this dress.

Dita Von Teese used wear mostly black on the red carpet. Her colours of choice lately have been black and white.

This Dior Couture Fall 2007 dress is typically Dita with the wasp-waist and full-skirt.

Supermodel’s never have a day off look immaculate. Eva Herzigova proves that in this with plunge-neck dress with sequined trim detailing.

Maria Menounos has made a big effort to look fabulous at Cannes, and it is really paying off.

This dress is truly stunning with the rosette detail and the gold sequin embroidery.

Salma Hayek is again sporting the Frida Kahlo hair style. What happened to the sexy Spanish waves she used to wear?

I still feel this is not the real Salma. Too muted in this Gucci Fall 2008 dress, too covered up, too plain. Where is my sexy senorita?

Cannes Film Festival Weekend Red Carpet & Parties Round Up

“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” Premiere

Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford, as usual, looked blissfully happy as they took to the red carpet this weekend. She was wearing a stunning blue silk one-shouldered Bill Blass Fall 2008 gown, whilst he was very dapper in a black suit with a satin tie.

Cate Blanchett wore a grey in a strapless lattice Armani PrivÃ© Spring 2008 gown with a necklace from the Chopard Red Carpet collection.

Natalie Portman wore a simple black Chanel gown, but still stood out on the red carpet thanks to her red lipstick.

Looking at Salma Hayek on the red carpet these days is like watching TV on mute. Although her jade silk Balenciaga dress is pretty enough, her whole look seems very subdued.

Maybe it’s the Frida Kahlo hair, but something is just off.

Kelly Brook arrived on the red carpet with her on-again fiance Billy Zane. She was wearing a baby blue daisy-printed cute haltered Luisa Beccaria Spring 2008 dress, with nude Christian Louboutin Catenita platform pumps. He was wearing sneakers on the red carpet…a big no no.

Rachel Leigh Cook was pretty in pink wearing a Elsie Katz Couture Spring 2008 dress, with tulip skirt, a tulle trim and a diamante belt. She accessorized with a Daniel Swarovski bag.

Linda Evangelista wore a dramatic one shoulder champagne silk gown embroidered in sequins from the Lanvin Fall 2008 collection.

Star Jones is sparkling in this see-through beaded dress.

“Vicky Christina Barcelona” Premiere

Penelope Cruz looked like a swan on the Cannes red carpet in a backless white Marchesa gown with 60 carats-worth of Chopard jewelery.

Rebecca Hall matches Penelope in the style stakes, wearing this sea green Alberta Ferretti one-shouldered pleated gown.

Aishwarya Rai opted for a fushica deep plunging Roberto Cavalli Pre-Fall 2008 gown.

Russian-born actress, Svetlana Metkina looks amazing in this pink Balmain Spring 2008 strapless maxi dress.

Penelope Cruz drove the paparazzi crazy in this steel blue L’Wren Scott Spring 2008 fitted dress with maroon velvet trim.

Quintessentially & Margherita Missoni Cannes Party For OrphanAid Africa

Mischa Barton looks stunning in this Missoni Spring 2008 floral gown. This is her best dress since she arrived at Cannes.

Margherita Missoni wears this gold embellished Missoni Spring 2008 wrap, over her dress whilst carrying a Louis Vuitton Limelight clutch.

Vanity Fair Party

Mischa Barton sure does love her headbands.

For this party Mischa wore a Roberto Cavalli Fall 2008 gown with sequined detail.

Vanilla Gorilla Party

Maria Menounos attended a party on the Bud Light Yacht, in a mint green silk devore halter dress with knot detail from the Catherine Malandrino Spring/Summer 2008 collection.
