Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Earlier today Meryl Street was in London for the photocall of her new movie, ‘The Iron Lady’.

I can’t think of a more worthy person to portray Maggie Thatcher.

The American actress opted to wear a British designer for the occasion by selecting a Stella McCartney Fall 2011 look.

An gold foil print dress was paired with a gorgeous oversized Stella McCartney winter warmer.

60 & Fabulous Award
In the past Meryl Streep hasn’t really taken red carpet dressing very seriously.

This awards season she’s stepped things up a notch.

Last night at the 2010 Oscars she wore stunning white draped Chris March gown.

The ‘Project Runway’ Alum Chris March also designed Meryl’s Golden Globes gown.

The designer created a gown that flattered the legendary actress, and made her look 10 years younger.

She paired her gown with a stunning crystallized clutch and Jimmy Choo ‘Zena’ platform sandals.

As I said yesterday we saw many re-runs on the SAG Awards red carpet.

Mostly notable was this stunning Balenciaga Fall 2009 printed gown which we first saw on Salma Hayek at the 33rd Annual Cairo International Film Festival in Egypt last November.

The actress was there to receive an honorary award during the opening ceremony.

She didn’t belt her gown unlike Meryl Streep who looked outstanding on the SAGs red carpet.

The black belt make her look more interesting, plus her green earrings complement her look perfectly.

This is the best I’ve ever seen Meryl on the red carpet, she easily wins this for me.

Yet Another Re-Run/J’Adore Award

I’m already preferring the red carpet looks from the SAG Awards in comparison to Globes.

Meryl Streep gave me my first sharp intake of breath of the night wearing a Balenciaga satin print gown from the Fall 2009 collection.

This was unfortunately another re-run as Salma Hayek wore this gown to the 33rd Annual Cairo International Film Festival last year, but that takes nothing away from how fabulous Meryl looks.

She accessorized her look with a black leather belt and a black clutch.

Definitely one of the best of the night.

Amy Adams looks stunning as always wearing a white RM by Roland Mouret Aphrodite dress with nude suede shoes.

I love the twist detail on the bodice, but unfortunately it exposes Amy’s nude bra.

Simple elegance is what we are used to seeing from Amy, and she doesn’t let us down.  Just a shame about that damn bra strap.

“Twilight” actress Ashley Greene shows off her curves wearing Brian Reyes sleeveless double stitch dress.

The figure-hugging white dress has contrast stitch and expose zippers on the front and back to give it a bit of an edge.

Ashley completed her look with a pop of colour via her red lips and orange clutch. Plus she wore what’s fast becoming her favorite heels – her Jimmy Choo Verity sandals.

Meryl Streep only really dresses up for the big occasions, but I love this look for her vibrant red dress – she normally wears dark colours.

I’m not a fan of large bags on the red carpet. It gives me a feeling that Maria Menounos just arrived from work or the mall.

But in saying that the nude bag looks fabulous with her sexy strapless belted jumpsuit with a ruffled bodice.

Very Jenny from the Block.
