Coachella 2013 Events Round Up

The first weekend of Coachella in California was a smash-hit—and a lesson in free-spirited fashion that plays by no rules. PYTs dotted the sun-drenched indie music scene, as they made the party rounds, proving that while music may be the star attraction, style obviously occupies the main stage, too.

Diane Kruger: The German actress went for grunge at the H&M Loves Music Coachella 2013 kickoff event at the Merv Griffin Estate in La Quinta, California, where she soaked up the action with boyfriend, Joshua Jackson. Naturally, she donned top-to-toe H&M with a Rolling Stones T-shirt, barely bum-covering patterned shorts and black suede, over-the-knee cowboy boots. Polished waves and a red pout managed to keep this look strangely chic.

AnnaSophia Robb: I nearly didn’t recognize the teen incarnation of Carrie Bradshaw, as she left her ‘Carrie Diaries’ character’s SATC fashion sense (and the Manolos) back in New York City. Instead, AnnaSophia wore a beach-y, striped Lacoste dress and a pair of sneakers for the LACOSTE L!VE 4th Annual Desert Pool Party in Thermal, California.

DJ Mia Moretti: This club kid was looking appropriately hipster-ish at the Harper’s BAZAAR Coachella poolside fete at the Parker Palm Springs in Palm Springs, California. The deejay rocked a denim and lace button-down, a pair of cutoffs and matching platform shoes. Large wooden hoop earrings and a complicated crochet hair band, which I’m still trying to figure out, topped off the look. Odd as it may seem, even Dior had a role in this patchwork outfit, as Mia carried a sleek perforated bag from the label.

Sophia Bush: At the H&M Loves Music Coachella 2013 kickoff event at the Merv Griffin Estate in La Quinta, California, the actress was feeling blue, as she coupled together some of the season’s boldest trends—from her navy midriff-baring top to her printed pajama pants and her leopard-print kitten bedroom slippers by Charlotte Olympia. Statement earrings, an embellished chunk of wrist candy and a blue purse sprinkled with gold hearts finished off this schizophrenic look.

Katy Perry In Dolce & Gabbana - Lacoste L!ve 4th Annual Desert Pool Party

Katy Perry joined Rita Ora at the Lacoste L!ve Fourth Annual Desert Pool Party, hosted in celebration of Coachella on Saturday in Thermal, California.

She flaunted her figure in a floral bra top and whimsically printed miniskirt from Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2013 collection. Selena Gomez first wore the festive, midriff-baring bustier at the 2013 SXSW premiere of ‘Spring Breakers,’ and she wore it well. But I think Katy does it justice here, too.

While I prefer the longer length of the skirt shown on the runway, it’s no surprise that Katy cut it short, as leggy looks are the hottest trend at this sizzling music scene.

The pop star must have been one of the few daring enough to wear a towering pair of platform shoes to the indie fest. I could have done without these white clunkers, though, which ruined the lighthearted, tropical vibe.

She topped off the retro look with long, glossy locks, embellished gemstone cat-eye sunglasses and a pair of huge statement earrings that I loved.

For some reason, I immediately thought of ’40s Brazilian movie star Carmen Miranda, especially when I saw Katy’s vintage Lulu Guinness clutch—all she needed was a pile of fruit atop her head.

Katy Perry In Thakoon - Coach's 3rd Annual Evening of Cocktails and Shopping to Benefit the Children's Defense Fund

Katy Perry showed her support to Coach’s 3rd Annual Evening of Cocktails and Shopping to Benefit the Children’s Defense Fund, held at Bad Robot in Santa Monica, California yesterday evening.

The singer gives us our second look at the Thakoon Fall 2013 collection.

Not only did she add a black leather belt to her dandelion-print dress with sheer inserts to give her a nipped-in waist, but she also added a bejewelled necklace which, if you hadn’t seen the runway image, you would’ve thought was part of the dress.

As this was a Coach event, she of course carried some arm candy from the brand, further accessorizing with Monika Chiang ankle-strap pumps and an aqua-blue ring.

Beauty-wise, the singer sported a dewy glow with neutral makeup, and her thick, long, raven tresses were left to flow naturally.

Katy Perry In Hervé Léger By Max Azria - 2013 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

Showing no signs of the breakup blues, Katy Perry was back on the red carpet for the 2013 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards held at USC Galen Center in Los Angeles, California yesterday evening.

Following on from last year’s belly-baring look, the singer wore a sexy Herve Leger by Max Azria Pre-Fall 2013 ensemble which was a bold retro-chic look without taking a step too far into ‘quirky Katy’ territory.

Her printed two-piece which consisted of a haltered criss-cross top and high-waisted skirt was styled with black Christian Louboutin pumps, Nikki Baker earrings and gold Melinda Maria bangles.

Neutral makeup and sleek raven tresses completed her look.

What a long way she’s come in a year. She is just oozing sexy appeal here.

This look may have a strong love/hate divide; I’m firmly in the love corner.

Katy Perry In Alice by Temperley - The Cut

Katy Perry and John Mayer make one very cute couple. I never thought I would say those words aloud.

On Thursday, the loved-up twosome celebrated Valentine’s Day with a romantic dinner date at The Cut in LA.

Katy opted for an ALICE by Temperley Resort 2013 floor-length white-and-red dress.

Featuring an Aztec-inspired design that runs the full length of the body and sleeves, the sheer polka-dot tulle dress with a camisole lining was accented with a pale-pink satin ribbon.

The silhouette is simple yet flattering, serving as the perfect backdrop for the intricate Aztec-inspired appliqué.

Black accessories, including a Celine shoulder bag and black boots, completed her look.

I can’t say I’m crazy about the accessories, but I love the relaxed nature of this look and how blissfully happy she appears to be.

2013Grammys_KatyPerry

Katy Perry kept up her red-carpet surprises at Sunday’s 2013 Grammy Awards, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

After a more subdued turn in a Rafael Cennamo gown at the Pre-Grammy Gala last night, she upped the head-turning style quotient with this minty-fresh design from Gucci’s Resort 2013 collection.

The super-tight, green dress featured a heavily embellished keyhole detail that was quite gaping. The lookbook version on the less well-endowed model walked a more elegant line.

Long raven locks and neutral-toned makeup completed Katy’s look.

In a venue where the ‘Wide Awake’ songstress and nominee could have resorted back to rainbow hues and sparkles galore, this was a less over-the-top statement.

But did it work for you?
