Front Row

I will assume Leighton Meester traveled all the way to Paris for the Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 presentation, as I haven’t yet seen her front row at any other shows.

Despite the long flight and jet-lag Leighton knocks it out of the fashion ball park in floral Resort 2010 dress with a ruffle detail cascading down the front.

She paired her dress with a belted vest from the same collection.

I love everything about this look.  Even the sandals paired with socks, but that grey bag just makes me shiver.

A cute clutch or no bag at all would have been preferred.

I’m sure many of you will go crazy over Freida Pinto’s Fall 2009 look consisting of an electric blue jersey top paired with a matching layered chiffon skirt.

I think the look is just OK.

I’m more drawn to the bright colour, the open-toe boots and bag, as the hair just ruins the look for me plus the top is a little tight about the bust.

I saved going gaga for Camilla Belle who wore my favourite look from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 collection.

Camilla never has a day off look fabulous, but I just wish she hadn’t worn those shades.

Katy Perry wore a metallic puff sleeve top which wasn’t presented on the runway paired with a black pencil skirt.

I love the contrast between the futuristic top and the classic skirt.

Natalia Vodianova decided not to belt her LV Fall 2009 nude dress with a textured black yoke.

I like the look both ways.

Rinko Kikuchi is the second person to rock this LV Fall 2009 blue and pink dress with a black lace overlay.

I’m glad she wasn’t so bold to wear it as presented on the runway, as we all know Rinko likes to take a risk.

Last season Gong Li arrived at the LV show wearing a chic denim look.

This time opted for a sophisticated black coat/dress from the Fall 2009 collection which she paired with Cancan heels.

Even thought Anastasia Gorbacheva watered down the LV Fall 2009 runway look, she did it for all the right reason.

I really love this look. Those pattern leggings are gorgeous.

Daisy Lowe also wore the LV Cancan heels, but paired hers with an ivory skirt and black blazer.

This look is surprisingly demure considering she wore leopard print pants at Dolce & Gabbana’s show.

I thought she would’ve loved to have worn the adventurous pieces at LV.

Maybe Zoe Saldana was down in the dumps as the paparazzi failed to recognise her when I saw her in Paris, because her smile seems strained.

The Star Trek star opted for a rather cute playsuit with a ribboned neck tie.

After-Party

Zoe Saldana got back into her groove posing fiercely at the show’s after-party wearing a LV Fall 2009 dress.

I love her gold accessories, the ruffles sleeved and the one-poufy shoulder detail, but were’s the pom-pom?

Camilla Belle opted for a grey knotted and ruched LV Fall 2009 dress for her after-party look.

Love the hair and make-up with this look.

Natalia Vodianova arrived with her husband Justin Portman wearing another nude and black LV Fall 2009 look.

This time it was a velvet mini dress was paired with patterned tights and Cancan heels.

Gong Li wore this navy LV Fall 2009 dress with a poufy hem.

The dress is gorgeous, but the boots are a tad much when the dress has so much detail.

I guess she decided on the boots as torrential rain, thunder and lighting hit Paris last night.

Thankfully my train was pulling out of Gare du Nord on the 2013 as this started to happen.

My Paris Fashion Week adventure started at YSL.

I was invited to the YSL showroom to view the straight-off-the Spring 2010 runway collection.

The collection was laid out in 4 parts which represented the sweet country-style brand classic white blouses and peasant skirts to an urban utilitarian looks which included leather shorts which were slashed. A trend we’ve seen in other presentations.

One thing I could appreciate viewing the collection this way was Pilati expert tailoring.

There were many dresses which were above-the-knee, poufy and belted plus shirt-dresses were also included.

Pants were loose and high-waisted. Shorts were presented in both leather and toweling material plus pencil skirt were both khaki and leather.

Monsieur Laurent classic masculine looks with the feminine ambiguity were evident by the look Iris Strubegger wore including wide pants, a ruffle collared blouse and cropped tuxedo jacket.

I loved that the collection included coral pinks, cornflower blue and forest green, as Stefano Pilati usually favours a palette of black, white and grey.

When I viewed the Spring 2010 collection on Style.com I’ll admit I didn’t get the strawberry reference, so I asked what it represented.

The strawberries reference Yves Saint Laurent’s last Spring 2001 Haute Couture presentation in which Monsieur Laurent embroidered strawberries, pineapples and cherries to blouses.

Seeing the collection up close I also noticed that the black leather skirt also had strawberry appliqués.

Another benefit of seeing the collection up close is that you appreciate all the finer details.

Look 9 appears to be white dress trimmed with black leather ruffles, but they were actually 2 separate dresses.

Many of the YSL Fall 2009 bags had a “Y” sewn, so I loved that Look 39 had this same sewn in detail on the skirt.

The accessories were just as magnificent as the clothes.  Cuffs looked like tree bark and thorned vines.

The suede and leather sandals were studded, detailed with roses, trimmed with white leather and came in a variety of colours.

Kate Moss was one of the celebrities in the front row.

She arrived in a high end-high street mix of a YSL Fall 2009 dark grey coat/cape, paired with a sheer top, a black mini skirt and a studded belt from her Kate Moss for Topshop collection.

Katy Perry’s look was head-to-toe YSL as she paired the leather bustier with dark grey pants which she tucked into her boots.

Natalia Vodianova also arrived wearing a YSL leather-wool mix, pairing her look with a gorgeous pair of black crocodile YSL Imperiale pumps from the Fall 2009 collection.

Karl Lagerfeld

This is one of my favourite look of Paris Fashion Week, even if Katy Perry is slightly too busty for this Karl Lagerfeld Fall 2009 dress.

I love the structure, the dark taupe colour and the way the dress falls back over her shoulders.

Her look was paired with ankle booties and a Karl Lagerfeld Spring 2009 bag, which has the designers face printed on the front.

Rihanna surprisingly opted for a subtle look wearing all black.

Her look was paired with leather gloves and Christian Louboutin lace pumps.

Lanvin

Janet Jackson looked very sophisticated wearing a black Lanvin Pre-Fall 2009 dress with a ruffled detail on one shoulder.

Janet is officially the Sophia Bush of Fashion Week.

Hussein Chalayan

This is my favourite look from Rihanna so far at Paris Fashion Week.

This grey Hussein Chalayan Fall 2009 has an edge without going over the top, even with those thigh-high boots.

I hope she wears more from this designer in the future.

Givenchy

Many of you will be spitting fire that Rihanna is wearing Givenchy Couture, but at least she didn’t make it look comical.

Her black velvet Couture Fall 2009 jacket was paired with a simple LBD and black ankle boots.

Leigh Lezark opted for a Givenchy Resort 2010 look which included black pants, paired with a studded silk cowl-neck sleeveless top and a studded leather vest.

She really did pick the best look to suit her rock and roll style.

Sonia Rykiel

I’ve always loved this Sonia Rykiel Fall 2009 sparkling dress, and I’m so glad to see how cute yet sexy it looks on Katy Perry.

She wore her dress with a pair of Christian Louboutin pigalle’s.

Maison Martin Margiela

Michael Jackson gave us the glove, now Rihanna is trying to give us the Long sleeved glove.

I don’t think her Maison Martin Margiela white long sleeved glove will have the same impact, but she makes it work for what it is.

The disappointing thing was that her dress was so sheer, you could see her nipple ring and thong in some pictures.

Jean Paul Gaultier

Oh Dita von Teese.

Perfection, poise, sophistication and class just oozes from your every pore.

From the top of your head, to the tips of your bustier right down to your Louboutin’s.  You’re probably the only one really deserving to be front row at Paris Fashion Week.

Only you can bring the magic to this Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2009 Couture dress like no one else could.

J’Adore Dita.  J’Adore.

Rihanna opted for a criss cross  jacket which showed off her satin bra.

Leather pants and Christian Louboutin Ni toi ni moi blue suede boots completed this crazy look.

Katy Perry was more demure wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2009 black halter dress paired with a pigalle’s and a Chanel quilted bag.

Vivienne Westwood

Rihanna seems to not like wearing much clothes these days.

Here she opted for a Vivienne Westwood Fall 2009 black oversized blazer, which covered her bra and panties.

Thigh-high tan boot completed this “I got dress in a hurry” look.

Jessica Stroup being at Paris Fashion Week is exciting in that it shows she has a lot of fashion potential.

But like Blake Lively before her, she totally wrecks her opportunity by looking a complete mess in the front row.

Her Vivienne Westwood red strapless dress is horribly creased and terribly ill-fitting, plus her Brian Atwood Lola Suede pumps don’t work with her dress.

I hope she has time to redeem herself before she flies back to the US.

Christian Dior

Dita von Teese looks HAWT wearing a Christian Dior leather skirt suit.

If it looks very familiar, that’s because she wore a black wool version to the Wonderbra Party Edition Launch in London recently.

She teams her dress with grey metallic heels and a Christian Dior Resort 2010 leopard print bag.

Carine Roitfeld finally wore something besides her YSL vintage dress and Alaia heels for a nice change.

This time she opted for an Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2009 grey suit, paired with a grey sweater.

I love the positioning of the arm holes on this jacket.

Wang Lei opted for a simple Dior Pre-Fall 2009 grey dress with a neck tie, which is very similar to the grey skirt suit which was presented on the runway.

Rihanna tries to do Dita, but comes off looking quite ridiculous.

She also carried a bag from the Christian Dior Resort 2010 collection, and paired her dress with Christian Louboutin Studded Pigalle Pumps.

This is the worst look of the week.

September 7th, 2009

Last week Amber Rose and Kerry Perry unknowingly wore the same RM Edition by Roland Mouret Mona dress on the same day.

Amber wore her coral dress when she went shopping with her boyfriend stylist Kanye West.

The pair shopped at Intermix and other boutiques on Rodeo Drive.

We usually see Amber wearing spandex, or something quite distasteful but this fits in neither category.

The blonde bombshell wore her dress with large gold bangles, gold framed sunglass and gold trimmed strappy sandals.

Later that same day Katy Perry was seen arriving at the Chateau Marmont in LA, following her guest judge stint on American Idol wearing the same dress.

Her dress looks pink, but I wouldn’t be surprised if her dress was actually the same colour as Amber’s due to the harsh flash light from the paparazzi camera.

Both women looks outstanding in this dress, Mr Mouret really knows how to cut a dress to flatter the female form.

Amber wins for me as I love her gold accessories, which gives her look an exotic flavour.

Katy Perry loves high street clothes. We’ve seen her many times wearing Topshop and H&M often mixed with more expensive pieces.

She was one of the first celebrities to wear a stunning peacock dress from the Spring 2009 Matthew Williamson for H&M collection, when she attended Paper magazine’s “The Beautiful People” party in New York. This was not the only piece she purchased from this collection.

Since then she has been spotted wearing the olive cropped leather jacket, and this week she was spotted in London wearing an olive satin jumpsuit with a drawstring waist and embroidered details from the same collection.

She follows Nicky Hilton who has also been seen wearing many pieces from this collection.

Lulu Guinness wasn’t about to be upstage by any celebrities last night. She stood out at this event celebrating her labels 20 year anniversary, wearing a vibrant purple Giles Deacon dress, with a tulle trim on the hem of skirt, and two eyes on the bodice.

The designer posed with her famous her red lips clutch to make a cute face, which was a very nice touch.

Katy Perry, who has carried a Lulu Guinness clutch to many red carpet events, was surprisingly clutchless at this event.

Lulu has a sun blush snakeskin clutch which would have worked well with her orange and grey ensemble.

Victoria Hesketh aka Little Boots, opted for a McQ Alexander McQueen feather print shift dress, which she wore with Alexander McQueen heels.

Model Jade Parfitt opted for a black Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 dress, which has previously been worn by Kate Hudson.

Between the boots and the tights, I really dislike this look.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her partner colour co-ordinated his tie, with her skirt, to show what a fashion conscious couple they really are.

Sophie carried a Lulu Guinness black snakeskin lips clutch.

June 3rd, 2009

Katy Perry looked sensational wearing a thigh-skimming strapless Foley + Corinna dress, adorned with an oversized bow.

Her turquoise dress was set alight with bold red lippie, sky-high blood red Casadei heels, and a red Lulu Guinness lips clutch.

You all know how I feel about tights on the red carpet, so I don’t need to go there.

Amanda Seyfried was very easily my Best Dressed at this event, where she won Film Actress of the Year.

The “Mamma Mia” actress opted for a Peter Pilotto Fall 2009 multi-coloured satin dress, which gathers and drapes from the hip.

I do wish she had worn her hair back, as a lot of the interesting detail appears on the neckline and shoulders, but her sexy strappy gladiator heels, and gold clutch more than make up for that.

Estelle usually opts for complicated, edgy ensembles, but on this occasion she opted for a very beautiful and simple Stella McCartney shell print dress

The slender star wore her dress with a pair of Nicholas Kirkwood pearl and lace peep-toe pumps.

Estelle got the Editor’s Special Award. I will guess this is for conquering America, and just being fabulous.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley oozed effortless chic. The former Burberry model wore a simple black crystal embellished Gucci Fall 2009 mini dress, with open toe shoe boots from the same collection.

Jacquetta Wheeler also wore head-to-toe Gucci. Her look consisted of a dazzling silver sequined tunic, with black leggings, which I prefer to the runway grey version.

Her rock chick look is soften by the Gucci jeweled sandals, but I love that she didn’t opt out of the large chain statement necklace, as it gives her soft rock look an edge.

The two ladies represented Frida Giannini, who was awarded Fashion Designer of the Year.

Alexa Chung, the unofficial Chanel brand ambassador, won Presenter of the Year. She wore a ruffled shouldered silk mini dress, with a nipped in waist.

There’s not point mentioning the hair, as she rarely switches things up.

Her black and white sequined Chanel Spring 2009 ankle boots are worth mentioning. I love the bejeweled oversized bows.

For once this doesn’t feel like she tried too hard, this is the effortless Alexa I once really admired.

Kylie Minogue was named Woman Of The Year and Entrepreneur Of The Year at this event.

She wore her Emanuel Ungaro LBD with a swirly gold embellishment, with a leopard print cropped Dolce & Gabbana jacket, which she paired with a large gold pendent, gold Jimmy Choo’s, and a matching clutch.

Kylie always looks like she’s stuck in the 80s. I’m not a fan of this look at all.

Writer of the Year, Sophie Kinsella looked effortlessly gorgeous wearing a floral print Christian Lacroix Pre-Fall 2009 dress, with a jewel embellished collar detail.

Her ruby red metallic heels perfected this look, making her one of the Best Dressed at this event.

Fearne Cotton never lets me down on the red carpet. She arrived wearing a Moschino red satin dress, with a huge ruffled skirt, in red Moschino pumps, which showed off her tattoo.

I love her blonde hair styled in this big frizzy wave, and her cat-eyes.

Becki Newton, Comedy Actress of the Year, opted for this cute strapless Robert Cavalli pearl-print mini dress, which showed off her killer bod.

Her hair is a bit blah, as are the heels, but she did the right thing by keeping her accessories to a minimum.

Rachel Stevens dressed appropriately for the baking hot weather we experienced in London yesterday.

She opted for a soft pink chiffon dress, with a pleated skirt, and cowl neck, which she accessorised with an Anya Hindmarch Marbled leather clutch clutch, and white T-bar heels.

Having spent some time in the US, Michelle Ryan doesn’t appear to have picked up many red carpet tips. She’s wearing a gorgeous hot pink bubble sleeved Balenciaga maxi dress, but she is not injecting much life into it.

The only thing that excites is her statement necklace.

She won UK TV Actress of the Year at this event.

Kirsty Gallacher continues to fall down in my estimation. This time the TV presenter wore a asymmetrical body-con dress with fabric that was so sheer, you would see her nipples.
