Katy Perry In Maison Margiela Couture – 2017 Met Gala

As one of the 2017 Met Gala co-chairs, Katy Perry was one of the first to hit the red carpet—which is actually blue this year—on Monday (May 1) in New York City.

The avant-garde dress code, in celebration of the Costume Institute’s new exhibit ‘Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between,’ was not lost on Katy as she took it to the nth degree in a fiery-red Maison Margiela Spring 2017 Couture veiled design.

While the look cannot be faulted for not making an entirely dramatic spectacle for which the Met Gala is known and loved, I do think it crossed too far into the OTT lane of the red carpet.

Adding the heavy-handed embellishment to the original design, plus what seems to be even more flurries of tulle, made Katy appear to be swimming through her own version of the Red Sea.

As for the ‘Witness’ headpiece, complete with swirled metal pieces and two side compact mirrors, it certainly made a statement—one that was nearly comical in its crafty, DIY nature.

Red-haute? Or red-not?

Candy Crush x Moschino Coachella Party

Coachella is never lacking in revelry and festivities, but the Candy Crush x Moschino Desert Party on Saturday (April 15) was one for the books. Hosted by Moschino designer Jeremy Scott, the fancifully colouful fete served to introduce his latest capsule collection with the addictive mobile game.

Katy Perry: Naturally, Jeremy Scott’s good friend Katy Perry would be in attendance—and dressed for the occasion. Rocking an even shorter platinum pixie, she wore a cropped version of a colourful Moschino Fall 2017 neon fur coat that must have been quite hot. No matter, she kept her cool with a metallic Moschino sports bra underneath and lime-green sunnies.

Serayah McNeill: Like Katy, Serayah also found inspiration in a jacket piece, hers a long, crochet number from the Moschino Fall 2017 collection. While her black and white bra top, orange shorts, and handbag were well-coordinated, the same cannot exactly be said for those furry flatforms that stuck out for all the wrong reasons.

Charli XCX: Looking every bit like she could run a post-party marathon in this Moschino look, the entertainer kept it brief in hot pants and a crop top, strewn with word art and messaging. Neon Nike sneakers drove home the athletic appeal.

Celebration Of Chanel’s Gabrielle Bag

Back in February, Chanel released the details of its forthcoming Gabrielle line, which was the brand’s first (major) new bag model since the ‘Boy’ bag back in 2011.

Chanel brand ambassadors – Kristen Stewart, Caroline de Maigret, Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne – will star in the campaign, however, only two of the three were on hand to host a party for the newest ‘IT’ bag at Giorgio Baldi on Thursday (April 6) in Santa Monica, California.

Lily Collins: There was a range of looks this event, but Lily’s tweed two-piece stayed true to the brands classic style.

Pharrell Williams: Leaving his Chanel pearls at home, the performer opted for a more sportier vibe on this occasion. The look almost has a 80s rapper vibe to it, the only thing missing is the chunky gold chain.

Katy Perry: If it wasn’t for the event, I would struggle to believe this was Chanel. It’s far too sloppy for my liking.

Katy Perry In Rasario – Elton John’s 70th Birthday

Katy Perry joined Heidi Klum in wishing Elton John a happy 70th birthday at a party held on Saturday (March 25) in Los Angeles, California.

Heidi went for Spring elegance, but Katy opted for high glamour wearing a sequined number from Rasario’s Pre-Fall 2017 collection.

Even though I’m not a huge fan of her Justin Bieber haircut, I do love how she modified this look do suit her gorgeous figure.

Shortening the length, nipping the waist and accentuating the plunge all worked in her favour here.

The look was styled with an Edie Parker ‘Oscar’ clutch.

Katy Perry In Rasario – The Human Rights Campaign Gala Dinner In LA

Katy Perry was at the Human Rights Campaign’s gala dinner on Saturday (March 18) in LA, where she accepted the HRC National Equality Award.

Despite her more rebellious, punk-rock ’do, the entertainer’s ensemble stayed mainly within the more sophisticated vein we’ve seen lately.

This Rasario Spring 2017 gown was a sleek option with a bolder nod to extravagance in the flurry of undulating black ruffles at the halter neckline.

Sets of coordinating diamond ear cuffs provided additional sparkle without getting in the way of those ruffles.

Katy Perry In August Getty Atelier – 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards

I found myself scratching my head when I saw Katy Perry at the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday (March 5) in Inglewood, California.

This is the kind of event where her more adventurous self comes out to play, so I was surprised – especially after awards season – that she played it so straight in this August Getty Atelier jumpsuit.

As gorgeous as the jumpsuit is – and especially with the new rock chick hair cut – I would’ve liked something more from Katy. This is forgettable.

Those Jacob & Co. earrings are breath-taking however.
