Kate Mara In Christian Dior – 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Kate Mara In Christian Dior - 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Kate Mara couldn’t be missed as she made a bright showing at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held on Saturday (August 16) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

Her embroidered yellow wool and pale-pink quilted crepe dress from the Christian Dior Fall 2014 collection was certainly a bold colour choice, made all the more intense with the sun’s rays on the red carpet.

The cold-shoulder frock lost some of its runway sensibility, as a pucker here and a crumple there marred some its streamlined appeal—not that I can call this particular Dior dress one of my collection highlights.

Dior metallic and nude sandals, alongside an embellished hair clip at the back of her sleek bob, completed Kate’s entrance.

Who Wore H&M Conscious Collection Better…Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden or Kate Mara?

Who Wore H&M Conscious Collection Better Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden or Kate Mara

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Kate Mara wore this same H&M Conscious Collection top on the same day.

Princess Victoria wore hers to a dinner party in Tanzania, styling her look with a shimmering gold pencil skirt, gold ballet flats and a gold clutch, while Kate took inspiration from the look book, pairing her top with Matador-esque embroidered pants with lace details.

Even though I wish she’d worn heels, I still love Princess Victoria’s look, preferring both the skirt and accessories.

Kate Mara In Sandro – 2014 Summer Party presented by Coach and Friends Of The Highline

Kate Mara In Sandro - 2014 Summer Party presented by Coach and Friends Of The Highline

Kate Mara attended the 2014 Summer Party presented by Coach and Friends Of The Highline held at The Highline on Tuesday (June 17) in New York City.

The actress, who didn’t fare too well with her heavy Dolce & Gabbana dress last time out, was much improved on this occasion.

The ‘House of Cards’ actress wore a Sandro look that featured an oversized sunshine-yellow wide-sleeved top with a contrasting pair of shorts with a cute ruffled detail in a maroon fall-like hue.

While the tan snake-skin platform heels work perfectly with the look, I am deeply questioning the pale blue Coach ‘Rhyder’ bag, only because colourwise it doesn’t coordinate well with the look, throwing off the late Indian summer vibe she was channelling here.

Kate Mara In Dolce & Gabbana – 2014 Tony Awards

Kate Mara In Dolce & Gabbana - 2014 Tony Awards

Kate Mara attended the 68th Annual Tony Awards held at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday (June 8) in New York City.

Between the shorter style and the quarterback shoulders, I don’t think this Dolce & Gabbana short-sleeved heavily embellished mini dress was right for the occasion.

Despite the fact that Kate wears this frock really well, I would’ve saved this for the Grammys or Billboard Awards.

Gucci Cosmetics Launch Party

Gucci Cosmetics Launch

Gucci hosted yet another event this week, this time to celebrate the launch of its long-awaited makeup line, Gucci Cosmetics.

The event was hosted at The Carlyle Hotel in New York City on Wednesday (4 June) by Gucci’s Creative Director Frida Giannini in honour of Charlotte Casiraghi, who is the face of the brand.

Charlotte Casiraghi: The woman of the hour donned a pale-blue Gucci Fall 2014 dress with a leather bodice, which was originally presented in mustard. Keeping the look clean and simple, she added silver Gucci sandals.

Frida Giannini: Needless to say, I’m salivating over Frida’s Gucci black jumpsuit. The off-runway piece incorporates the bejewelled bib and leather collar we saw on the Fall 2014 runway.

Solange Knowles: The singer/DJ attended her third event in so many days. Standing out in a hot-pink Gucci Pre-Fall 2014 suit, she added a sea-blue clutch and gold Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals to her look.

Kate Mara In Valentino Couture – 2014 Met Gala

"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Kate Mara makes a bold choice on the red carpet of the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The actress wore a uniquely printed Valentino Couture Spring 2014 gown with a sheer neckline and sleeves.

I am drawn in by this ensemble, but at closer look I can’t say that I love it. I always appreciate a risk, but this one doesn’t quite do it for me. The silhouette of the dress is stunning, but the combination of texture, pattern and color prevent me from embracing it.

There is no doubt that the gown is a work of art. The detail is breathtaking and the cape on the back is a very cool addition.

Although I don’t love the color, I do like how Mara’s tousled platinum blonde waves and shimmery makeup look with it. I wish I wasn’t so torn about this look. How do you feel about it?
