Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Menswear Thursday Roundup

Here is a quick roundup of some of the fellas who have been on the red carpet over the past two days.

Nicholas Hoult: The British actor kept it simple and clean, wearing a Dolce & Gabbana charcoal-grey suit with an open white shirt and black patent shoes to the Jaguar F-TYPE Coupe launch party on Tuesday evening.

Gerard Butler: The Scottish actor attended the Women’s Guild Cedars-Sinai gala held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California wearing a brown Dolce & Gabbana suit.
While I have expressed my dislike for brown fabrics on the red carpet, I have to say that this pinstriped two-button suit with a taupe shirt and micro-dot brown tie surprisingly wins me over.

David Gandy: The supermodel joined Nicholas Hoult on the red carpet for the Jaguar launch party. Having paid a lot of attention during his career, David stands head and shoulders above the others in his double-breasted suit. Not only do I love how well styled the look is, but also the mix of colours – olive, navy, green and sky-blue – all blend so well here. However, it’s the burgundy shoes which get a standing O. It’s not often we see a guy wearing a pair of shoes in colours other than black, tan or brown.

Menswear 8 Nov

Here’s a quick roundup of some of the handsome fellas taking to the red carpet yesterday evening.

Tinie Tempah: The birthday boy attended the Beats by Dre event, which doubled up as his ‘Demonstration’ album launch party in London. Perhaps mindful of the fact that some of you have grown tired of the cropped pants, or perhaps because temperatures are dropping swiftly, he opted to wear regular pants on this occasion. I just love the tan wool blazer. This is yet another dapper Dolce & Gabbana look.

David Beckham: The handsome former footballer joined Kylie Minogue on the red carpet for the GQ Men of the Year Awards in Berlin, Germany looking very dapper in his black suit with a Remembrance Day red poppy proudly pinned to his lapel. “Like no other athlete, David Beckham represents style and fashion influence. With his trendsetting and sometimes daring appearances he has created a bridge between the world of design, models and photographers, and the world of world-class sports, and brought glamour back to a male sport”, said José Redondo-Vega, editor-in-chief of GQ Germany.

Gerard Butler: The Scottish actor attended the Ermenegildo Zegna global store opening hosted by Gildo Zegna and Stefano Pilati in Beverly Hills, California yesterday evening. Looking slick in a blue two-button suit, I love the contrasting black tie and blue shoes. Men so often stick to black.

Best Dressed Of The Week - Emmy Rossun In Carolina Herrera & Gerard Butler In Hugo Boss

There were at least six people I could’ve picked for Best Dressed this week, but I eventually selected the lovely Emmy Rossum in her Carolina Herrera gown. As I said in my earlier post, she was the picture of perfection.

When it came to the guys I was always going to pick a summery look so, like you, I selected Gerard Butler in his cool blue-and-white Hugo Boss suit worn to the Wimbledon men’s final.

I hope we get to see more summery suits this week.

Gerard Butler & Bradley Cooper - Wimbledon Men’s Final

It wasn’t just the women who were sitting pretty while attending the Men’s Singles Final between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London on Sunday afternoon; the guys looked pretty handsome too.

Gerard Butler: The Scottish actor cheered on his fellow countryman wearing a slick Hugo Boss suit. The look featured a chambray blazer, white shirt and white trousers styled with a navy tie, polka-dot pocket square and brown shoes. I’m struggling to love the brown shoes. Navy or some loafers would’ve been preferred.

Bradley Cooper: The American actor opted for a more classic look, wearing various shades of grey including a two-button notched-lapel suit and a striped tie, with black lace-up shoes providing the finishing touches.

BOSS Shanghai Fashion Show

HUGO BOSS hosted a spectacular event in Shanghai. The museum “Power Station of Art” venued an impressive fashion show presenting the BOSS Mens- and Womenswear Collections for Winter 2013.
They invited several guests from around the globe.

Carey Mulligan: The British actress posed alongside Claus-Dietrich Lahrs, CEO of Hugo Boss, wearing a BOSS all-black look featuring a blazer, a satin-trimmed bustier and tapered pants, with her favourite Brian Atwood ‘Aida’ sandals and a red lip colour completing her look. This is a really chic look; however, I wish she would wear a colour other than black.

Michelle Chen: The actress obliged, wearing a bold orange-hued strapless BOSS gown with a bronze clutch, which is in total contrast to the all-black look worn by Carey.

Gerard Butler: The handsome actor looked very dapper decked out in a classic BOSS black suit. I would’ve loved it had he selected one of the more colourful suits which were presented in this show.

Robert Downey Jr.: The ‘Iron Man 3′ promo tour was kick started with a press conference at the Conrad Hotel in South Korea on Thursday, for which Robert went monochromatic. Always doing things differently, he opted for a light-grey Ferragamo jacket featuring white trim on the edges, and too-long grey pants. I love that he wore sneakers with this look, which stays true to his quirky style, but I’ve never been on board with glitzy sneakers.

Gerard Butler: For the London premiere for ‘Olympus Has Fallen’, Gerard looked his usual dapper self clad in a grey Dolce & Gabbana suit with peak lapels. I like the simplicity of the look, with a grey tie that matches his suit and a classic white shirt, but the pants have too much break.

Aaron Eckhart: In a well-tailored navy suit, Aaron cleaned up handsomely when he joined his ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ co-star on the red carpet yesterday evening. Going with all blue, he matched the notch-lapel suit with a light-blue shirt and a blue tie. I love the all-blue look here on Aaron. Props for wearing pants that fit perfectly.

'Olympus Has Fallen' Moscow Premiere Menswear Round Up

Here I find myself swooning twice for Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart who were in Russia yesterday evening for the Moscow premiere for ‘Olympus Has Fallen’.

Gerard Butler: The hunky Scot donned an Etro blue-and-lilac checked suit which he wore with a complementary lilac dress shirt and a printed Etro tie. It’s not often we see an Etro suit on the red carpet, but from judging this outing we clearly need more.

Aaron Eckhart: While Aaron’s look was more classic; his midnight-blue suit and black shirt combo sans tie had a more relaxed feel to it. This didn’t stop him from looking any less handsome though.
