Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Front Row @ Louis Vuitton Spring 2014 2

Celebrities took to the front row to see Marc Jacobs’ last collection for Louis Vuitton this morning during Paris Fashion Week.

Sofia Coppola: The director, who often wears Louis Vuitton, kept it simple, casual yet chic, as always, wearing an LV Resort 2014 tweed jacket with black slacks while carrying her Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton tote. Never one to opt for too many trinkets, she added two cuffs here, much to my surprise.

Elle Fanning: Teal-blue sandals added a pop of colour to her white Louis Vuitton Resort 2014 embroidered ensemble.

Haley Bennett: The actress, who has worn LV a few times for her red carpet looks, selected a layered sleeveless LV black-and-teal patterned dress styled with blue glitter Louboutin sandals and a black oversized clutch.

Dakota Fanning: Now this is what we like to see: a different hairstyle from Dakota. The actress selected an LV Resort 2014 sheer lace layered frock styled with the teal-blue sandals – apparently the colour-theme of this front row – and a black monogrammed LV clutch.

Hailee Steinfeld: Seemingly not getting the teal-blue memo, the actress showed off her fresh-cut bangs wearing a cute LV black-and-white printed frock styled with knee-high socks, glitter pumps and a white clutch. The styling of her last look let her down, but it looks like she had a lot of fun putting this together.

Sofia Coppola & Louis Vuitton Celebrate The New SC Bag Launch

Celebs gathered to celebrate the new SC bag launch for Le Bon Marche and Louis Vuitton during Paris Fashion Week yesterday evening.

Dakota Fanning: The actress wore an LV Fall 2013 champagne-coloured slip dress with a lace hem, which she tried to prevent from looking like a nightie by adding a long brown coat to her look. It didn’t work. Louis Vuitton ‘Dramatic’ sandals and a SC for Louis Vuitton clutch.

Elle Fanning: Dakota’s younger sister had more success with her plaid LV Fall 2013 spaghetti-strap dress with an embellished hem. Beach waves and LV sandals completed her look.

Miranda Kerr: Carrying her new favourite bag, the LV ‘Capucines’ tote, the model wore a black LV dress which looks like it was returned from the ‘Mad Men’ costume department. While I do like the 60s secretary dress and the necklace, bag and pumps, I find the hairstyle ages her somewhat.

Sofia Coppola: The lady of the hour styled her all-white LV look with her SC for Louis Vuitton clutch, cuffs and tri-colour sandals. Effortless and chic as always.

Elle Fanning In Chanel - Front Row @ Chanel Cruise 2014

Can you believe that the Resort 2014 collections are already here?

Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his Cruise 2014 collection for Chanel yesterday in Singapore, which was attended by Dakota Fanning.

The actress, who was decked out in head-to-toe Chanel, wore a slightly modified version of a Fall 2013 look which took to the runway.

She opted to wear her strapless A-line dress without the sheer vest, plus she opted to wear her chain-accented ankle boots sans leather leg-warmers, and swapped the chunky Chanel jewels for a simple bracelet and oversized ring, with an obligatory Chanel chain-accented bag completing the look.

As always, the hair and makeup is extremely lacklustre.

Dramatic Eyes At The Met Gala The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Dramatic eyes were a big trend at last night’s Met Gala, and while some were absolutely stunning, others completely missed the mark. Everyone might not agree with me here, but I really feel that you can do punk and look attractive while doing it. Case in point, these three lovely ladies:

Good:
Hailee Steinfeld’s eyes were total showstoppers last night. Her green and black cat-eyed look was edgy but beautiful, and totally punk-esque.

Another real winner was the always-flawless Diane Kruger. Her silvery gray smokey eyes almost had an ombré effect, with the lightest silver at the inner corners and the darkest at the outer corners. Gorgeous!

And finally, we have Nina Dobrev, who sported an intensely winged upper lid and a silver-lined lower lid. Very high-fashion punk!

Bad:
You have to give Elle Fanning props for having fun, but her winged electric blue and pink eyeshadow is more little girl playing dress-up than fashion’s biggest night.

As for January Jones, her look reads far more alien warrior than punk! The disconnected triangular shape of her liner is quite harsh, and coupled with the grayed out eyebrows, she looks a little creepy.

Ugly:
Ginnifer Goodwin is always a fashion and beauty risk-taker, but this one simply did not pay off. The heavy black shadow from lash to brow, along with the heavily shaded brow may be daring, but it’s also unfortunate. The only place this look belongs is on a raccoon.

Elle Fanning In Rodarte - 2013 Met Gala

Unlike her sister Dakota, who took a subtle approach to the night’s red carpet, Elle Fanning made quite a style statement at the Met Gala.

While her Rodarte tie-died swirl gown is decidedly more psychedelic than punk, it’s fun and youthful and a great choice for a 15-year-old on a red carpet.

And then there’s her makeup. The over-the-top winged navy and red eye shadow is the perfect match to the gown, and I definitely give her props for having fun with the theme, but is that actually punk? I’m not sure, but once again, you can’t fault a teenager for having a little fun on a night like tonight!

Are you liking Elle’s dramatic look, or is it too left field?
