Get The Look: Diane Kruger’s Flyaway Free Wavy Tresses

The Paley Center For Media's Premiere Screening Of FX's "The Bridge"Celebrity hair stylist Kylee Heath worked with Diane Kruger shaping her tresses for the PaleyFest screening of ‘The Bridge’ yesterday evening.

Fresh and full of soft texture was Kylee’s inspiration.

Here’s how she created the look.

She started by spraying the (clean) roots with Leonor Greyl’s Spray Structure Naturelle and then spraying the roots through ends with Original Mineral Atonic Thickening Spray.

After combing the products through, she then blew Diane’s hair out using an Ibiza boar-bristle round brush.

Leonor Greyl Voluforme was sprayed throughout the roots before Kylee added texture by wrapping sections around a 1 1/4 inch iron. Kylee wrapped the front sections away from the face. As she worked her way around Diane’s head she alternated, wrapping some forwards and some backwards.

Once the texture was in and cooled, she massaged the roots of the hair, breaking up the waves, and finished by spraying the hair with Oscar Blandi Lacca Hairspray.

Flyaways were smoothed out with Kevin Murphy Easy Rider.

Joan Smalls CFDA Fashion Awards Bangs

2014 CFDA Fashion Awards - ArrivalsJoan Smalls took us all by surprise with her new ‘do at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards.

New York based hairstylist, Amoy Pitters, told us, “Joan was ready for a change. She didn’t want to appear too done up, but she was hoping for a fresh, easygoing look.”

The new bangs and carefree waves gave her exactly that. Amoy shared the step-by-step process of Joan’s big transformation.

After washing hair, Amoy Couture Hair Sapphire-Jojoba Leave-in Conditioner was mixed with one pump of the J.F. Lazartigue Serum with Shea Butter.

Mixing these two products will further moisturize strands and add shine to the finished look. Be sure to evenly distribute the blend to achieve a smooth consistency.

A blow dryer was used next to absorb any remaining moisture. The secret to achieving Joan’s bouncy waves is to make sure you do not blow dry your hair pin straight. Use a paddle brush in an upward motion on roots to create height.

Amoy separated Joan’s tresses into sections as she used a 1-inch barrel curling iron. Each wave was locked into place using Rene Furterer Vegetal Finishing Spray. Hold the curler towards the end of the hair and be sure to twist each piece in the same direction to mimic the beach texture.

The bangs truly transformed Joan’s look. Amoy recommends that you avoid a blunt cut. Instead, ask your stylist to cut strands on an angle. An edgier cut will create natural movement and add dimension to the tousled waves.

Bollywood actress, Sonam Kapoor, was a vintage delight in a billowing Elie Saab Couture gown for the screening of ‘The Homesman’ during Cannes Film Festival.

The L’Oréal Paris ambassador walked the red carpet working a faux bob ‘do with flapper girl waves. Mixing the eras, Sonam opted for a 60s makeup inspiration with bold red lips and heavy lush lashes.

Her ‘Great Gatsby’ hairdo help pulled the vintage look together. So take your hairstyle cues from the star and master her vintage updo in just a few steps.

Step 1: First section the crown into a triangular shape with a defined side part. Next, wrap this section around a small-barrelled curling iron, holding it a forward angle and securing each curl with a pin.

Step 2: Curl the remainder of your hair into loose curls. There’s no need to pin down these curls.

Step 3: Remove the hair clips from the top and brush out the curls into an S-wave pattern.

Step 4: For long hair, gather strands into a low ponytail and twist into a faux bob.

Step 5: For a finishing touch, spritz on some hairspray for extra hold and accessorize with a jewelled hairband just above the eyebrows for the flapper girl look.

There you have it. Sonam’s vintage ‘do right at your fingertips. To complete this look add a pop of red to your lips and a generous coat of mascara for a touch of extra drama.

Beauty Trend Spotting: Side-Swept Bangs

Beauty Trend Spotting Side-Swept Bangs

Whether you’re growing out a cut or ready for a seasonal change, side-swept bangs are the way to go.

Celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Michelle Obama, Gia Coppola, and Amber Valletta are all setting the tone for this trend. It’s a look that suits any age and face shape, so why not give it a try?

Start by parting your hair directly above the arch of the eyebrow on your preferred side.

The key to mastering the swoop is to part the hair at an angle, working towards the center of the crown. Start at the roots and brush the bangs forward while pushing strands towards the ear as you approach the ends.

Complete the look with John Frieda Extra Strength Six Effects + Serum to tame strands and fight frizz away.
