Get The Look: Kate Bosworth's 'Gala in the Garden' Hair & Makeup

Celebrity makeup artist Lisa Storey and celebrity hairstylist Bridget Brager worked with Kate Bosworth for the Hammer Museum’s ‘Gala in the Garden’ on Saturday (11 October).

Lisa shares her beauty inspiration: “We decided on a look that transitioned from the end of summer to fall, and worked perfectly with Kate’s soft cream-white form-fitting Alexandre Vauthier Couture and diamonds.”

Here’s how to get the look.

On the outer edge of the eye, Lisa applied Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Plum, followed by the same stick in Orchid across the centre of the lid to the inner corners.

Next she used Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Seductive Rose – the darker shade in the outer lid and blending the lighter shades towards the middle lid and corner of the eye. Then she blended into the contour of the eye to create a soft fading gradient of colour. The eyebrows were gently filled using Dior Eyebrow Pencil in Blonde to give a softer, warm look. She applied a light lick of Dior Blackout Mascara to give a little depth.

She blushed Kate’s cheeks with Chanel Cream Blush in Chamade and lightly contoured the cheekbones with Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Intensity 1.

Lisa finished the look with Tom Ford Indian Rose Lipstick and dusted the face with Tom Ford Illuminating Powder.

Bridget shares her hair inspiration: “We went for an understated hairstyle. The dress and jewels were such a statement and so beautiful that I wanted to keep on the cool side with a textured pony. She was going to a cocktail party, after all!”

Here’s how to get the look.

Bridget prepped Kate’s damp hair with O&M Atonic Thickening Spray. She dried her hair so as much natural texture as possible would come out – a lot of scrunching the hair up and then over, directing the hair from side to side.

After her hair was dry, Bridget used a 1.5 inch curling iron and picked out random sections of hair to curl horizontally. She curled up and then curled down the same section so no curl pattern was the same. She wanted lived-in hair.

Once all the hair was set, she sprayed Bumble and bumble City Swept onto the lengths of the hair and gave the hair a good shake. Then she secured the ponytail with a bungee just under the crown of the head. She wrapped a piece of hair around the bungee and secured it with a hairpin.

To finish, she used a light spray of L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray.
