2018 Oscars & Oscar Parties Menswear Roundup

Many of the men brought their A game to the 2018 Oscars and Oscars parties, including the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party on Sunday (March 4) in California.

Chadwick Boseman: The ‘Black Panther’ star continued his reign of sartorial power in this Givenchy Haute Couture suit that was inspired by a full look in the Spring 2018 collection. However, I love how he made the long, embellished jacket his own—sleekly styling it with black shirting and trousers and the zipper-accented shoes.

Donald Glover: This Gucci tux such a handsome-luxe approach with the velvet jacket taking it to the next level in partnership with the relaxed-suave appeal of the slipper shoes. A David Yurman ring completed the look.

Tom Holland: Sometimes double-breasted jackets can come across as a bit contrived, but I love how Tom wore this Hermès suit so sharply. It was a standout on the Oscars red carpet with his Piaget watch adding that final touch.

Kumail Nanjiani In Ermenegildo Zegna Couture & Emily V. Gordon In J. Mendel – 2018 Oscars

‘The Big Sick’ actor/writer Kumail Nanjiani and writer Emily V. Gordon made for an elegant couple at the 2018 Oscars on Sunday (March 4) in Hollywood.

Kumail was ever so dapper in an Ermenegildo Zegna Couture tuxedo styled with Tod’s shoes and David Yurman cufflinks.

Meanwhile, Emily was glammed up in her J. Mendel gown that featured a romantic, fairy-tale effect with the sheer, ruffled layers of the skirt.

I like the old Hollywood components she introduced with her finger waves and red lip.

2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards Menswear Roundup

We can’t leave out the fellas from the 2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday (March 3) in Santa Monica, California, especially when they were looking so fine.

Chadwick Boseman: Usually my goosebump moments are reserved for breath-taking princess gowns or Cate Blanchett when she’s on top form, but lately, every Chadwick moment is a goosebump moment. The man is on fire. And this Burberry look is a glowing testament to that fact. Styled with David Yurman accessories and Louboutin Homme shiny shoes, the actor continues to serve up unparalleled suave sophistication. He has really made menswear a joy to follow this year.

Nnamdi Asomugha: The actor was joined by his lovely wife Kerry Washington at this event wearing Dolce & Gabbana. The shoes really sold this look to me. Often guys break out of navy and black comfort zone only to opt for black shoes. Nnamdi committed to this oxblood look from head-to-toe presenting a dapper look.

Timothee Chalamet: It seems that your love for Timothee’s style has waned over the last few weeks. Here he did something different wearing Off-White. I love the idea, but dislike the execution. The skinny jeans don’t appear to be skinny enough, and the footwear is so bulky that they are almost comical. A cool pair of Common Projects would’ve been preferred.

The BRIT Awards 2018 Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The Brit Awards 2018 weren’t just about the ladies, as a set of fellows put on their stylish best for the event on Wednesday (February 21) in London.

Calvin Harris: Not only did Calvin have me at hello, given the pure sharpness of this Dior Homme Spring 2018 suit, I was even more enamoured upon closer inspection. Look closely, and the graphic print is actually ‘Christian Dior Atelier’ printed stripes. Way to put ‘normal’ pinstripes to shame.

Justin Timberlake: Before taking to the stage to perform, JT was on the red carpet in a Stella McCartney dark suit and red scarf for a stylish flourish. I do question the brown shoes here, as they were such a distraction.

Luke Evans: The Welsh actor channeled suave formality in this charcoal-gray, contrast lapel suit.

Cheryl In Jean-Louis Sabaji – The BRIT Awards 2018

Cheryl walked the red carpet with boyfriend Liam Payne at The Brit Awards 2018 on Wednesday (February 21) in London, England, where they joined Alesha Dixon and Millie Bobby Brown.

The former Girls Aloud member channeled dark sophistication in a Jean-Louis Sabaji Spring 2018 dress.

I am being complementary when I say that there is a crow-like quality to the style with its feather-like detailing cascading across the chest and arm and the dramatic cinched waist.

Unfortunately, Cheryl’s version has lost a lot of that moody drama with the shorter skirt and looser silhouette.

The rose-adorned shoes do not help matters.

I understand she wore them to tie into the white rose and the Time’s Up movement, but there are too many details going on and not one clear focal point.

Liam looked suave with his pale blue Stella McCartney jacket popping against the dark pieces.

Esquire’s Annual Maverick’s Of Hollywood

Esquire’s Annual Maverick’s Of Hollywood was held on Tuesday (February 20) in LA, celebrating 23 women and men who are taking creative risks and making bold, innovative work in Hollywood.

Angela Sarafyan: Earlier in the day, Angela had us seeing red—and she continued working the striking colour here. However, the distinct lingerie mood and sheer elements of this Milly look will no doubt land as successfully as her prior entrance did. Had the skirt been lightly lined, I think we’d all be on board.

Donald Glover: I love a good statement jacket, and that was never more true than in this Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2018 heart motif letterman’s jacket that didn’t skimp on playfulness. I do wish he had paired it with something less formally traditional than pleated trousers.

Lydia Hearst: This Fausto Puglisi Fall 2017 look is a tough one to take off the runway, given its experimental edge. As the coat was already halfway off her shoulders, the overall ensemble may have presented as slightly less haphazard had she just removed it. Read More…
