2014 Met Gala Menswear Roundup

Met Gala Men 1The dress code at the 2014 Met Ball, themed ‘Charles James: Beyond Fashion’ was “white tie,” which meant the guys were on their best glam behavior—at least most of them. Tuxes were spotted at every turn among the handsome hunks on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 5). It takes a lot of sartorial strength to stand up to the rush of bustling, bold gowns that punctuate the evening, but let’s hear it for the men who made it work.

David Beckham: This hot topic was hotter than ever in a crisp, cool Ralph Lauren Black Label white shawl collar tuxedo jacket, black bow tie and black tuxedo pant. This is the way to rock formal wear, without a hit of fussiness. Swooning yet?

Douglas Booth
: The British actor took a regally traditional route, but put a refreshingly modern spin on his head-to-toe Burberry outing. He was positively dashing in a black tailcoat and dress trousers, worn with a white waistcoat, wing collar bib-front shirt, white bow tie and black loafers.

Andrew Garfield
: “The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ star looked sharp in silver, dressed in a Band of Outsiders metallic blazer with contrasting black shawl collar, paired with a white shirt, black bow tie and black tuxedo trousers. I love the touch of metal here.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear 2

Here is a quick menswear roundup.

Adam Levine: The musician joined Keira Knightley on Saturday (April 26) for the premiere of ‘Being Again’. Looking very dapper Adam wore a Prada Uomo navy two-button suit with a white dress shirt and striped tie.

David Gandy: There aren’t many word of the devilishly handsome model who joined a host of starlets on the red carpet for the Fendi store opening in London on Thursday (May 1). Just a swift beating of the beats and silent admiration that one so handsome can always look so well put together.

Adam Lambert: Colourwise, Adam left both Adam Levine and David Gandy in the shade, standing out on the red carpet at the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Awards wearing a green Kris Van Assche suit and black Saint Laurent shirt. My only wish for this look is that it fitted better. Love the styling however, especially those gold mirrored glasses from MYKITA & Bernhard Willhelm.

Jared Leto In Salvatore Ferragamo , Etro & Skingraft – 2014 iHeartRadio Music Awards

Jared Leto In Ferragamo, Etro & Skingraft - 2014 iHeartRadio Music Awards

Jared Leto continued to showcase his sartorial style on the red carpet at the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Awards held at The Shrine Auditorium on Thursday (May 1) in Los Angeles, California.

The actor/musician wore an eclectic selection of pieces, starting with that hard-to-miss bright-blue Ferragamo blazer worn over a black and white printed Etro shirt and Skingraft skirt pants.

On some, even the super-stylish Michael B. Jordan, this just wouldn’t work.

But one person who can blend colours and contrasting styles in a unique and interesting way is Jared Leto.

Vans and mirror Ray-Ban aviators completed his look.

Menwear Red Carpet Roundup

After a flurry of male stars taking to the red carpet in shades of blue, here we see that grey is the colour du jour.

Kit Harrington: The actor attended a VIP screening of ‘Pompeii’ held at Vue West End on Monday (April 28) in London wearing a smart two-button notched-lapel suit with a shirt and tie, all by Z Zegna.

Zac Efron: Attending the premiere of his latest movie ‘Neighbors’ in LA on Monday evening, Zac selected a lighter-grey suit of the three-piece variety, styling his suave look with black patent-leather shoes, a slim black tie and a white pocket square.

Dave Franco: The funny guy was also looking very sharp at the ‘Neighbors’ premiere, wearing a Band of Outsiders suit with a white shirt and navy tie, combining traditional Americana with contemporary flair, which is what the Californian brand is famed for.

‘Palo Alto’ Tribeca Film Festival Premiere Menswear Roundup

'Palo Alto' Tribeca Film Festival Premiere Menswear Roundup

It wasn’t only the ladies who were putting their best feet forward on the red carpet for the ‘Palo Alto’ Tribeca Film Festival premiere.

James Franco: No guessing the actor was wearing a Gucci suit. The notched-lapel two-button suit in a summery light-grey hue with pinstripes was styled with a white dress shirt, navy tie and black lace-ups. His accessories were a pair of Gucci ultra-light ‘techno color’ aviator sunglasses.

Jack Kilmer: The actor also donned a pinstriped suit, but his Saint Laurent look had a cooler edge without the tie and the unnecessary sunglasses.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise Of Electro’ New York Premiere Menswear Roundup

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Rise Of Electro’ New York Premiere Menswear Roundup

Here’s a quick look at the fellas who took to the red carpet for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise Of Electro’ premiere held at the Ziegfeld Theater on Thursday (April 24) in New York City.

Andrew Garfield: Like his co-star/girlfriend Emma Stone, Andrew was also showcasing a new hairstyle for this premiere. Looking very dapper in this Alexander McQueen blue and purple blumed check single-breasted suit with Christian Louboutin ‘Education’ flats, I don’t think he’s ever looked so handsome. This buzz cut is a great look for him and the suit is one of my favourites from this promo tour.

Dane DeHaan: The actor and face of Prada’s Spring 2014 campaign wore a print-free look from said collection, selecting a green kid-mohair two-button notched-lapel suit with a light-blue and white thinly striped shirt with Prada shoes. While I love the colour and cut of the suit, just one button undone would’ve been preferred, but this is a style he rocks consistently on the red carpet.

Here is a quick menswear roundup.

David Beckham: The former soccer star was dressed to impress wearing a grey notched-label Ralph Lauren Black Label three-piece suit styled with a print silk tie from the Purple Label while attending the China Music Awards in Macau, China on Wednesday (April 23). Swoon.

Sam Claflin: The British actor joined Olivia Cooke on the red carpet for ‘The Quiet Ones’ LA premiere on Tuesday (April 22) wearing a steel-blue Burberry Tailoring notched-lapel two-button suit. I just love the wide-striped blue tie and blue pocket square, which add some flair to this formal showing.

‘For The Love of Cinema’ Dinner Party Menswear Roundup

'For The Love of Cinema' Dinner Party Menswear Roundup

Here is another quick menswear roundup from the fellows who attended the ‘For The Love of Cinema’ dinner party hosted at Urban Zen in New York City on Thursday (April 17).

James Marsden: Sporting a buzz cut, which doesn’t in any way diminish his charming good looks, the actor wore a navy Ermenegildo Zegna suit and a complementary shirt which really enhanced his eyes. Brown lace-ups completed his look.

Dev Patel: The British actor went for a more laidback look, wearing a printed navy tee shirt and black jeans smartened up with a burgundy blazer, which has always been a great colour on him. Sadly, though, for a dinner party his shoes look a bit scruffy.

Anton Yelchin: The actor wore a Dior Homme deep-blue wool-and-silk notch-lapel tuxedo styled with a white cotton shirt and black leather derbies, opting to go sans tie. You may remember that Jeremy Renner wore this same suit to the ‘American Hustle’ LA screening late last year.
